Id say its definitely there for the taking this time though. Especially with Benyon gone. Good to see some integrity there.

I quite agree. The Liberals will win Newbury. It voted remain in 2016. Personally I couldn't vote for a party that wants to forget the last 3 years and ignore 17 million voters. But people will. I also think the Conservatives will be the biggest party at the next GE and the Liberals will be neck and neck with Labour.

Libbers got in at the 93 by-election, before that the Tories go back to 1923, so almost a century of stable governance. Tory country.

County. 😂

I think if he manages to do that from Newbury he should be knighted. More realistically hell just foam at the mouth like the rest.

On a serious point though, I imagine the Lib Dems will take this seat.

Bit sexist. Might be an Anne Widdecombe type.🤣

I'm inclined to agree with you but he is nevertheless spot on about the ERG. Actually, I don't think that anybody wins because neither extreme is healthy in my humble opinion.

I quite agree. The left is now very left and would be a disaster economically for the Country. The Conservatives have gone all in to the right to try and negate the Farage effect.

As for the Liberals... Swinson is a loon to want to revoke Article 50 without any form of vote. Does she think she's the script writer for Dallas when they did the Bobby Ewing shower scene?🤣🤣🤣🤣

For example, the connection between Jacob Rees-Mogg and the AfD party in Germany:

Lammy is a left wing racist nut job if Mogg is a right wing nut job. Lammy wins because of his hatred of the white english.

Define why the ERG are right wing nut jobs.

Pretty sure it was Rees Mogg and his band of right wing nutjobs who scuppered May's deal...

Personally I think the term right wing nut jobs should only be used when referring to exremist groups like the EDL. But anyone right of centre is now a "right wing nut job" eh?

Forgive me if I am wrong but did we not have a deal as orchestrated by Mother Theresa? Now with the EU in the driving seat surely it is that, no deal, or remain. The opposition can howl all they like but it seems pretty straightforward to me. The reason it has become protracted is the majority of MP's wish to remain and will do their utmost to delay the process.

We need to leave as I have shorted the pound.🤣

I see the "chosen one" is still astride the garden fence in that in a GE he will propose another referendum to decide our future relationship with europe. Where the F**K has the man been for the last 3 years? I tell you we will still be at this point when my g/children are drawing their pension.

As for Ms Thornberry. I'll get a deal and then recommend we remain in a referendum. The art of the deal she ain't got.🤣🤣🤣

Unelectable. Lammy, Corbyn, Abbott, McDonnell, Thornberry... the list is endless. How is it possible for an opposition to be languishing so far behind in the polls after the calamity of the current incumbents?

And his poor constituents actually get to have a vote for the first time in 10 years at a GE.

With the limp dems gaining disenfranchised MPs like a schoolboy collects stamps it is only a question of time before they have enough to form a government and our lover's tiff with europe will be resolved. Boris on the other hand has upset the environmental lobby by the suggestion of polluting the nearest ditch. Silly person!!!! tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

As parliament is ungovernable and we have the real chance of civil unrest, it would not be unreasonable to deploy the Civil Contingencies Act tomorrow. This wonderful bit of legislation introduced by Mr Tony Blair on 2004 allows the government of the day to call a national emergency, close down parliament and deploy troops on the street for 30 days.🤣

You think he needs the CAP payments? rolleyes.gif

I doubt he does. BUT his company benefits directly from CAP. So it is a conflict of interest. And all this rubbish about caring about the poorest of his constituents he has been spouting... yeah.. of course...

Yes, apparently. But then I did sum speeling at skoole. Mr I've got a literature degree!

Benyon is no longer a Conservative MP. Was always going to vote for staying in the EU. Didn't want to lose his CAP payments. At least he won't be the Tory MP for Newbury anymore.

I can see what BJ is doing, but he's playing with fire. Brinkmanship is one thing but he's betting the pot on a pair of eights, gunna crash n burn and hand the whole game over to the dark lord of Marxist chaos.

Can't see it myself. Only a 1/4 of the electorate would ever be mad enough to vote in Steptoe. If BJ gets 40 percent of the vote by joining forces with Farage it gets him a comfortable majority. The only way he could lose is if there was a Lib/Lab/Green pact to only deploy 1 candidate on a remain ticket.

This current government won't make it beyond 31st October so it is probably best to outline their plans sooner rather than later because otherwise they won't get the chance to do so at all.

And what will happen after a GE. My guess... a hung parliament with the Tories as the biggest party or a small majority for them. 😂 Won't solve anything...did you see the "protests?" yesterday? Never seen so many middle class white people in one place. Sums it up.

Johnson has intimated that a "get tough" policy on crime is on the cards so his acid test as leader may well be in this field as opposed to the european farce that occupies the press. Undoubtedly the vehicle involved has been "spirited" away so all the accused need to do is sit in the interview room answering "no comment" to every question while the clock ticks down. One can only hope there is sufficient forensic evidence to bring them to trial though I doubt very few would bat an eyelid at the idea of "lex talionis" in a disused quarry.

They will all go no comment apart from pinning it on the 13 year old. He'll get a spell in youth custodial and all the rest will walk away to rob and murder elsewhere... when he gets out he will get looked after.

Appalling incident. sad.gif

Said on the news tonight that police are interviewing people living in a group of caravans.
That'll no doubt the traveller's camp about 2 miles away at Paices Hill; a location, police are regularly in attendance at.

You often see on police documentaries where they are pursuing a vehicle
and it turns into traveller encampment; the driver soon disappears into a hostile crowd.

Fortunately there was another officer present, so hopefully he can contribute vital evidence,
along with police car's cameras.

For the murder of Police + Prison officers we should reintroduce Hanging.

Heard the same earlier in the town. Until an example is made (I'm not a death penalty advocate) then nothing will change. Hard labour. And I mean breaking rocks in chains. Sod the do gooders. Make them suffer... for a long time.

I am immensely saddened and shocked to read that a police officer lost his life last night whilst in pursuit of his duties, I think it's a measure of society that this can happen. My thoughts and condolences go out to his family and brother officers. 😔

Let's hope life means life in these circumstances and that joint enterprise laws mean they are all banged up indefinitely.

And it's a shame about those two guards dying in that freak road accident next week.

You just know that is inevitable.. they have already been "relieved" of duty. One could have a "heart attack" and the other a "brain haeommarge"... one things for certain. They ain't gonna see a court room. Would you give them life insurance?

I agree that in this case nobody would argue that this is a breach that should not be reported. The more general point that I was trying to make is that although there is no threshold for reporting a breach there is also no requirement for reporting a breach either if in your subjective assessment no serious harm has been done. To be clear, I'm not saying that is the case here but it is a handy get out clause since it relies on the judgment of the individual who is potentially at fault or possibly others within the same organisation who also may not be that keen to expose their own potential failings.

Hopefully they at least employ some penetration test experts or at least consultants or a business. They hold the details of hundreds of thousands of bank accounts by the civica platform they use....
