That's right, do it at the beginning of the Easter Holiday's!

Who thought up that great idea! Do you want the kids using the A339 as a play area instead?

Doesn't everyone fly to Monaco for Easter? Private jet, serviced apartment.... This is Newbury after all.......

We went to speak to users of the park on Saturday, people are genuinely angry about the way the park is changing and the way the whole thing has been handled.

Not really "whipper in", just a case of one party making the time to speak to people who use the park. Maybe the existing elected members should be speaking to the public too?

How many were angry at getting a new play park?

So now its a party issue then ? I thought that for a moment you were concerned on a personal level, silly me. Still there's an election looming so any excuse will do.

This does seem a stupid idea just at the begnning of the school holidays. A lot of mothers enjoy taking the children into the park for picnics and games and also so that they can meet up with friends and make new ones. Surely the work could have been done after the holidays and then be ready for the longer summers break.

What a disapointing decision to close a play area prior to the commencment of the school holidays, no doubt the new area will be a great improvement though but still what were they thinking ??????

I wonder what the air polution levels are like adjacent to the A339 ? have tests been carried out ? is it a good place to locate a young childrens play area, too late to change that now I suppose. The prevailing winds probably blow most car and lorry fumes to the east, but it is a VERY noisy location. Lorries, cars, Police sirens and motorbikes all zooming past. I wonder perhaps the Greenham Common Trust could be asked to fund noise barriers on the edge of the A339 adjacent to the park rather than fund the Pavillion ? now that would be a great benefit to all park users, make the environment cleaner and quieter, they could put a sign up saying Peace and Quiet Courtesy of The Greenham Common Trust, what do readers think ?

Regular users of the park? Or the ones who came out to use it once on the first hot weekend of the year?

I guess it was a mix of both in reality?

Many 'users' of the park of my experience cannot see as far as the play area, I wonder if they were included? blink.gif
You use the word 'angry'. Is that really the emotion? Irritated, - annoyed, even - but angry seems a bit dramatic. What changes? What 'handling'?

I no longer have children of an age who would use the play area, but I would agree closing it during a holiday is a bit odd.

When do the schools break up?

Schools have already broken up.

Some were angry that the skate park and play park would be closed during the holidays, some were angry and a few even said they were upset about the size of the proposed pavilion.

The Victoria Park Nursery School was reportedly breaking up last July.
