I notice that the Newbury Today site have confirmation from the Police that this was from Fireworks

I am very concerned that there is a facility so close to Welford, anyone have any idea's why they are allowed to have one so close?

I thought there were strict rules regarding the placement of such facility, or is this just another ploy to give us some information and we all go away happy!!!

The Truth is out there. Believe no-one rolleyes.gif

Best to ban bonfire night lest and errant rocket manage to find its way in and blow the place to kingdom come.

Contrary to what Hollywood and TV show, any munitions stored there will be in a 'safe' mode. That is, no detonator fitted. Modern explosives (again, contrary to films etc.) don't go bang on their own accord unless subjected to a shock from a detonator or similar device. If Welford ever caught fire, all that would happen is that the explosives would burn off. If they could explode due to the slightest shock, they would never get moved by rail, lorry etc.

Air-drop bombs have their detonator installed just prior to loading and are armed in-flight or even after dropping to minimise the risk.

If this apparent event were to be repeated, they should perhaps give notice.

Tou can use C4 to cook on. Burns quite well. Just don't stamp out the flames when you are done cooking....although that is unlikely to cause any explosion.
