QUOTE (motormad @ May 31 2013, 09:41 AM) I think that Simon has a point. If they spent £10k chasing him over £20, why wouldn't they spend £10k to improve a very busy park, especially in Summer. It was heaving at the Crafty Raft. I think they have.

QUOTE (On the edge @ May 31 2013, 12:51 PM) As Mackenzie King said 'Where there is little or no public opinion, there is likely to be bad government, which sooner or later becomes autocratic government.' How very true! Nice to know our dear NTC can now be cited as a text book example. What if in fact public opinion of NTC is very high?

QUOTE (dannyboy @ May 31 2013, 12:54 PM) What if in fact public opinion of NTC is very high? The turnout at the very recent Victoria Ward by election is the only measure of opinion that counts. So you have your answer, the public's opinion of NTC is at an all time low.

Surely if they we unhappy they would have proved so by voting out the incumbent parties.

Surely if they we unhappy they would have proved so by voting out the incumbent parties. That's the bureaucrats answer - no response must mean yes. If they really were enthusiastic, they would have turned up in droves to show their support and to vote in who they believed would keep the success. This time they even had a choice, but they simply couldn't be ar**d. In other words, wholly indifferent. I'd also add some also believe that voting makes absolutely no difference at all. No matter which party gets in. WBC a classic example, elect Tory, get Carter, elect LibDem get Carter; so why bother?

That is why I don't vote. Never have never will. Yes it is, I've been employed by too many organisations, public and private, who ask people for a response and say 'no reply will denote your acceptance'.....classic way of increasing your satisfaction survey levels! Its up to you if you vote or not, but it might be thought a little odd that you seen fond of responding to this forum. In some ways its good to know there are some people about who think we can't improve and our present ways are good.

Surely if they we unhappy they would have proved so by voting out the incumbent parties. That's right, whilst the party of the most vocal critic was pushed down to an embarrassing fourth place and last place.

QUOTE (dannyboy @ May 31 2013, 04:40 PM) it is a rather negative forum... I'd say as most responses want to and generally suggest how to improve, it's pretty positive. Simply pumping sunshine isn't positive, it's often a cover, so arguably negative. The very nature of quick electronic discourse doesn't permit florid language and overt courtesy.

Aaah thanks for that illuminating response! Most of the meat in my Tesco burger was beef! Any thoughts on what kept the vast majority away from the polling station? Give you a clue, they aren't all over the moon with NDC,
