Does anyone know why the traffic has been snarled up in Hungerford for the last few weeks?

They are not emergency works they are replacing the gas pipes, it's now in it's 9th week and due to continue to the end of July.

They don't seem to have gotvery far in 9 weeks. How far up the High street are they going?

As far the Park Street (opposite the Town Hall) roundabout. To say they are going slow is an understatement.

Yes, that's a fact. It's going to be a little embarassing for the Council as it is Hungerford Carnival on Saturday.
Thanks for the info.

Actually the carnival is a Round Table event, nothing to do with Council - that would suggest they were capable of organising something tongue.gif

errmm... Run that by me again.... Why would it be embarrassing for the Council? I wasn't aware that they installed gas mains...

If private utility companies such as water, gas, telecoms or electrickery need to dig up the roads then local authorities cannot stop them doing so.

But no matter. The gas firm is a private company, with an efficient workforce and a work ethic that would be the envy of public sector goons so the work will be completed WAY ahead of schedule and with minimum fuss.....

oh dear.......

I guess it's just Hungerford's turn. It seems like half of Newbury has been dug up by the gas people for months.

I did say seems like, since I am always running into their road works. Sorry if I exaggerated a little wink.gif

Can't make out what they are doing to London Road/Parkway where they have three way lights.

Hi Folks,

Sorry I have not been on for awhile but been busy, busy busy.

I've been going through Hungerford quite a lot recently and have found the same problem. My boyfriend also has noticed the "snarl ups". Unless I have missed it in the NWN nobody is saying anything.
