Dannyboy, why do you think the NWN should be unbiased in it's reporting.

Can you name another newspaper that is?

The NWN can say what it likes. bias in newspapers is the norm. I never commented on the NWN. The shift of this thread moved to hunting in general.

When and where?

Depends what type of hunting or blood sport you mean.

That is an example, not a definition.

Yawn, nothing doing at work today?

an indifference to suffering or positive pleasure in inflicting suffering.

do you understand suffering?

I'm on holiday; you?

Didn't hurt, did it? Not that I'm indifferent to your misery if it did. Indeed, if your answer is concise, we are all cruel.

I think I do, but what is your opinion?

Well well, they've done it again this year.
Pro hunting reporting!!!
Do they not realise that many people may be offended by this?
Even more is promised in the "NWN" dry.gif

Gobsmacked might be too strong a word, but just let us say I am quite surprised by the way the NWN has reported this.

I don't think it is that biased. Unless there was negativity there at the time it doesn't need to be reported in a negative light. In this "rural" part of the world hunting is seemingly well supported and the event sounded like it was attended by plenty of supporters. I (like last year) would struggle to understand why anyone would be offended by the reporting, or for that matter the hunt itself.

It seems to be an account of what happened, again the onus is on you to say what's wrong with it.

The NWN are reporting on a relatively harmless traditional annual event which is legal; I see no reason to report any 'balance'.

What's unbalanced about it?

I was going to quote some passages from it to illustrate the point but upon reading it again I would have to quote nearly the whole article.
But I will anyway - here are a few......
"Tradition is thriving"..........I thought we were told that the ban on hunting would see an end to horses, hounds and the associated jobs, unless of course they are doing it illegally..........no, surely not! tongue.gif
"popular spectacle" but how unpopular is it?
"Supporters enjoyed hot sausage rolls, mince pies and a glass of port as the huntsmen and women, resplendent in red and black, gathered" That's because it is on private land as they have been banished from public land by those who do not support. So you can only have "supporters".
"For lots of pictures capturing the atmosphere" .....Lots of pictures, why? - most people are not that interested in the "atmosphere". What atmosphere - bad for some.
By the way, I bet it is not reported in the sport section of the paper!!

I don't see a problem.

I don't see a problem. Like I said, people going about their legal annual traditional pursuit.

OK fine - that's you prerogative, some don't, but many do have a problem with what's going on here.

Because of bigotry and in the interests of security, they have to find alternatives venues to pursue their legal annual traditional pursuit.

No, because that is illegal; what the NWN reported on is legal.
