My mother slipped and fell quite badly with her shopping yesterday in the rain and a very kind gentlemen helped her to her feet and carried her shopping to a taxi so that she could come home.

Bless you sir. You are a gentlemen.

Good on him, whoever he was. But I would have thought anyone else would do the same.

I was going to reply to that specific point, but I don't want to turn this into a discussion. I'm just glad your mother had assistance.

No problem. I just wish I havdn't put my can of special down as some bugger had swipped it by the time I got back after we'd got the old girl into a cab.

Glad it all worked out OK Tall and Dark. Falls can be quite a problem for older people.
Trouble can happen to youngsters too. A 30 something female relation slipped on a garden path and broke a leg.
It has never set and she has had multiple operations to clear up infections.

PS. I am not sure if that will cheer you up. One day the sun will shine.
As fer Dannyboy, what a sacrifice. Good chap.

Restores your faith in human nature and proves there are still some good people around. Hope mom wasn't too shaken up.

I think most (not all) would have offered assistance.

TDH never said that the gesture was unique or surprising.

Sorry, I thought he did.......... Jeff G said "But I would have thought anyone else would do the same."
And TDH said "Would they? I don't have as much faith in humanity as you."

He questioned it, but didn't claim it. Besides, his OP was simply to thank the person that did it. JeffG replied with that rather flippant and unnecessary comment. Personally, I don't think 'anyone' would have done the same, but there you go.

My remark wasn't flippant, and it certainly wasn't intended to be. It was a genuine comment and I'm sorry you think otherwise. If you want flippant, just look at replies #3 and #9.

That's right, us Volvo drivers have a similar code; if the first one doesn't get you the next one will.

I just thought your comment was just a bit unnecessary, it sounded like: 'So what? Anyone would have done it'. Unless it was you that did the good deed of course! smile.gif

Reply #3 was a joke, as originally it said King not kind. A giggle for a few, then that is my mentality. Mrs T thought it a chuckle too.
