QUOTE (xjay1337 @ Mar 22 2012, 09:37 AM) We need to protest and voice our opinions about fuel duty...it affects nearly everyone directly, and affects everyone indirectly. Costs more for goods to be delivered to stores. The fat man in the suit wants absolute maximum profits so instead of making £8m profit he wants to make £8.6m profit so those transport costs will be blasted onto the consumer. No doubt trains and buses will go up, while it's my understand buses get tax free diesel it will no doubt be mentioned annnyway. Where as the every day motorist cost will go up wildy...car tax continues to rise on the regular and fuel will be hitting £1.70 by the end of the year... I see the £2 litre by end of 2013. The government needs to take strong, decisive action now; reduce fuel duty by a large amount, eg 20-30p per litre. When they say "oh we postponed a duty increase" or "cut the fuel duty by 3 p..." that makes absolutely no difference at all..where 20-30p would. And it needs to be done now. There is a petition site i can't remember; official government jobby. If 100,000 people sign the petition then it will be discussed in parliment. 'Tis what we need That petition hit 141,862 'This e-petition has received the following response: This e-petition has reached 100,000 signatures. The Government has notified the Backbench Business Committee in the House of Commons, who have scheduled a debate on the matter on 15 November' |

I would like the Government to give more free hours for nursery children over 3yrs, better maternity pay, tax break for working families and and help people who are working and not watching JK all day. I think ChildBenefit should be cut for higher tax payers and train fares should be capped. Oh and not to put wine up anymore than it is You? |

QUOTE (Cognosco @ Aug 8 2011, 11:00 PM) So are our forces not assisting rioters in Libya? They are causing mayhem and wrecking buildings etc in their own country. You see what I am getting at? How do you define what is rioting and what is protesting against a regime that will not listen? Not condoning what is happening in London in any way at all just trying to be devils advocate as it were? Yes I see what your getting at... Protesting is groups of people, gathering together at a certain place to make a point - wave banners, show petitions thats been signed etc. A riot is what I am seeing on my tv screen - horrific attacks on the cities we live in. Alot of the people are not 'protesters', just people who want to cause havoc. |

QUOTE (Cognosco @ Aug 8 2011, 10:25 PM) Should we not send in troops to help the rioters? How do you define rioters or legitimate protesters? Syria. Libyia springs to mind. Not condoning what is happening in any way but just look what is happening throughtout the world how do you define what is right and what is wrong in protesting? Have the Syrian protesters a genuine grievance or are they just rioters etc? Who defines? Thoughts please. At the moment, this is wrong what is happening now, in a country I live in. Just because people are annoyed, destroying the town they/thousands others live in, is not going to solve anything. After seeing a interview of a mother having to leave her home and see it burnt down is heartbraking. Protesting is wrong when other peoples are affected. Want to fire bomb homes and shops? Then do the ones you own...Ooops, no hang on, they probably don't work and we pay their rent and weekly bills for them. |

If a person was jalied for LIFE and not 10-15 years for murder than I would say we do not need the death penalty...But a high % of released prisoners re-offend within 6 months and another inoccent life is lost. If you kill someone, you take their life away, ruin their families life, then I think you should have the DP. If you sexual abuse a child then you deserve the DP.
Yes, I know not everyone who is found guilty, IS guilty, but where there is 100% proof, ie: Caught on Camera, Confession, Multiple Witness - then why should they life to breath another day. DP is more expensive than life in prison, but I would rather extra money spent then to keep them alive.
Anyone seen Changeling with Angelina Jolie?? Film based on a true story....Anyone of you who has seen it felt justice was done at the end? |

QUOTE (user23 @ Aug 8 2011, 10:15 PM) How would they take control? There is more of them, they are better trained at these situations.. You got any better ideas on how to control this? I have been horrified watching this...I have friends in London who have had to leave their homes through terror of them being burnt down. |

Never been so ashamed of our country until now...Watching this live footage is truley awful. Thugs who have no thought to what they are doing, shop owners, families, children - their lives are being ruined. The Army needs to get involved as this is escalating round the country now... At least David Cam has decided to come back from his holiday now... |

QUOTE (NWNREADER @ Aug 8 2011, 03:57 PM) As we know so little about what happened, how can we judge?
Anyone thought that 2 weeks after a Norwegian human goes on the rampage a Norwegian bear does too? I think the Norwegians have something going on....... We don't need to know anymore though - think about it, you decide to go camping in the middle of a place where Polars Bears live - Bears that are fierce, protective and hungry - they can smell food (inc human flesh) up to 32km away will find you and they will eat you. They don't know not too. If they fitted their Trip Wire incorrectly and the PB got through than that is their fault. They are suppose to have people watching (which they didn't), looking out for bears and as dannyboy said the PB would most probably have been killed anyway if it was seen near them. This is just all wrong. PB are endangered species due to Global Warming - they could be extinct in up to 80 years. Were certianly not helping by 'sleeping' in the middle of their home are we. Instead of taking groups of students to do this exploratory trip - maybe sunbathing in the med is more appropriate. |

QUOTE (Andy Capp @ Aug 5 2011, 12:45 PM) It is all supposition, but I am assuming they didn't deliberately get rid of their daughter. As the fate of Madeleine McCann is officially unknown to the authorities, I'll presume she was abducted by a third party. I take this to mean that the McCann's were not totally responsible for her disappearance. The point is, even if the parents were at home, it would not have meant their daughter was perfectly safe from abduction. In other words, leaving their children alone was not the only reason the abduction occurred.
At the end of the day, Madeleine McCann's disappearance was a horrible thing to happen, we can all agree on that. Yes, I can agree on that..Actually debating over this, that and the other wont bring her back. I just find it terrible and it makes me so upset when I think of this, so i'm probably better off not discussing it anymore anyway. (I think the situation with the Newbury women is slightly worse than the Mcanns for the time scale of neglect...All though I suspect Maddie is continuing to endure on going abuse - if she is alive ) |
