All has gone very quiet on the Kennet radio front; is this still happening or not?

They're playing some classic 70's rock and pop. Suggestions for a playlist anyone? Here's mine:

Enough Is Enough by Streisand & Summer
So Very Hard To Go by Tower Of Power
Taking Care Of Business by B.T.O.
Lyin' Eyes by Eagles
Money by Pink Floyd
Won't Get Fooled Again by the Who
Hooked On A Feeling by Blue Suede
We Just Disagree by Dave Mason
Hold The Line by Toto
How Long? by Ace
Dream On by Aerosmith
Black Dog by Led Zepplin

Given that your first listing was "You're no good" I was trying to work if you were being serious or having a subtle dig at the broadcasting standards of mighty Kennet Rrrrad-Io!

However as you ended with Black Dog and there wasn't a correlation I assumed you were being serious....

I was trying to have a humorous dig at Left-Hook, Kennet Radio's very own media mogul. I guess I was too subtle.

IF you're being serious.. (and I don't think you are).. I have some pretty cheesy stuff from the 70's on my iPod that I will only listen to if I've got my headphones on, or am in the car on my own - with the windows UP!! (Otherwise I get abuse from Mrs Spartacus or I'll be embarrassing the kids......) biggrin.gif

There's "70's" (ie late 70's and punk, Bowie, etc) and then there's ...ahem..."70's".... hmmm... Paper Lace anyone? (although I'm quite partial to a bit of GlamRock every now and then..... and Slade is getting a bit of a revival on my iPod in the car.... what's not to like about their cover of Janis Joplin's Move Over? - great bass... )
Slade - Move Over

Smashing!!

Too clever for me Simon after I've had a glass or three of plonk to soak up the barbie..... biggrin.gif Quite a bit of thought went into that listing! Take the rest of the night off....

(smacks forehead) I'm being dim (and you've cut your original list by about half...) Black Dog.... I get the connection now..... (leave me alone I'll play for hours)

Smashing!!

Being serious now - I listened for an hour, and I did like much of the 70's they were playing. Prog's my thing, but there's a lot from the 70's other genres that has aged well (and quite a bit that hasn't too!).

Foul!!

yeah, but it's kinda cheating isn't it? Looking back to "The 70's" while standing in 2013 yet including Gang of Four is not playing the game according to the rules. Think "70's" and you're meant to think of spotty faced Jocks with tartan stripes up the side of their jeans, or fresh-faced beautiful people on Eurovision Song Contest getting their skirts ripped off... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

May as well include Cocteau Twins..... (although strictly speaking their stuff was early 80's)

Funnily enough I dusted off my Camel album and gave it an airing just a couple of days ago.... (the kids were out, as was the wife...) They slipped under the radar for most folk but I love their 'I can see your house from here' album and as that was released in Oct 1979 that just squeezes into "the 70's"

Sorry, pedant alert/education corner.

Did you know that writing 70's is incorrect. The apostrophe actually goes before the 7 to indicate the missing '19', therefore it should be '70s.

Thanks for tuning in listeners smile.gif

I thought this was a station that was intended to have local content and represent West Berks, not merely play music.

Hmm , a moment pendant je pense.

I think I usually put in a full year and a little s.
In fact I try not to use apostrophes so as not to come adrift.

Still Elision is a useful tool."In Native English, elision comes naturally, and it is often described as "slurred""
That is my excuse anyway. I did use accents but I have forgotten where I left them.

Francoise Hardy "tous les garcons et les filles de mon age....+ 2 little curly bits that indicate a soft c.(1960s)
