I noticed that Swift-Half had gone on a £1000 mediation training course care of the NTC precept-payer, and I thought it ironic that a lib dem would need any training in taking the median position and holding the middle-ground - surely Swift-Half could just have asked the arch fence-sitter David Rendel for some pointers.

NTC have paid his fee for a course? What benefit to NTC, let alone the people of his ward?

He obviously feels confident that he will be there for another term.

Are we really supposed to be paying expensive personal course fees for transient Councillors? Isn't this a benefit in kind, very useful skill set for several professions; however, some difficulty in seeing what 'mediation' parish councillors would be involved with that they shouldn't be competently dealing with already.

It's probably worth mentioning that in all my dealings with the town council I have never actually met Swift-Half, so I'm guessing that lesson #1 is going to be - talk.

Yes, £1050. I think you'd need to ask Swift-Half what benefit the course will be to the precept payer.

A £1050 course probably will mean that it will take slightly longer for someone to be classed as vexatious?
Bet he enjoyed the usual accompanying hospitality more though? rolleyes.gif

No, they'll simply send him on another course; makes the admin easier.

Handy - with no local elections for a while we'll not see him of his mates knocking on doors around the area.....
