I think that depends on the person. Knowledge without thought or understanding is dangerous.

I see what you are saying, but I would say that 'Knowledge without thought' is not really 'knowing'. In fact, you have hit on something as I would say that broadly speaking that is what the Internet is: Knowledge without thought.

I can't argue with you there. It is also like people saying 'it is my opinion,' but opinion without substance is just blowing in the wind.

It's kind've killed the art of arguing/debating. Theirs always a scrap of evidence to prove some crappy point however vaguely related to the discussion. For example the Telegraph article sourced earlier that was largely irrelevant but made the poster think they were making a valid counterargument.

Those that know least is the main problem with the internet, if you can find it, you can get some good educated debates.

I write emails and other posts in my head at bedtime and thankfully fall asleep.
A bit like counting sheep.
They are forgotten by morning which is a relief for all parties I am sure.
Internet is troublesome, but when they open up the box for cable nearby I panic...pretty stupid really.

It has invaded your life.

You are quite right GMR..Back in 2000 I transferred and edited old cine from 1953 ish.
Posted them on you tube .Surprising results years later.
The UK were operating oilfields in about 1955.It was a golden age for many.

A film company from Barnes(London) remastered all my original cine.
GMR look up Gwynne Roberts on wiki.

Not sure if anything will work anymore...www.kurdmemory..com

Howdy, I am old codger where the net is concerned. My son said to me that my age shouldn't be an obstacle to modern society. So my son set it up for me and I must say I am delighted. I can give my viewpoint, chat with like minded people and even order goods. My grandchildren are brought up with ipads and such, totally amazing. But it mustn't let it take over our lives.

I love my Internet. So much knowledge, so many friends that can be contacted. Things to buy, and evening chatting.

In a funny way, that is a part of the problem. We become 'addicted' to it and with that 'addiction' comes power. Corruptible power.

Well apart from instant banking and so forth I would really miss the keyboard.

I guess you are right Andy Capp. When a previous PC bit the dust I used library computers.
Thankfully 1 was within walking distance. I don't post a lot and don't really do face book either.

However it is often pleasantly surprising what pops up.
