For whatever reason, our forces are engaged in an armed conflict. Sanctioned by our democratically elected government.
Like it or not; representing the will of the people.

Agreed, but should this stop people speaking out if they feel there is something not right. Even if one's dignity is put into disrepute?

Your comment is, of course accurate. The Prime Minister has taken the trouble of sending a hand written letter of condolence to a serviceman who has paid the ultimate sacrifice for his Country.

Sometimes one should, 'speak only if one can improve upon the silence'. Have we all not (and this might not be the case with the MP) sometimes done things in good faith, only to realise latter that it was clumsy and ill timed?

Its rather sad that this has been thrown back at him by the gutter press.

That might be the case, but this has been sponsored by a grieving mother. I'm sure any tabloid would have ran this story had she gone to them. I'm no fan of The Sun, by the way, nor any other red top.

Don't forget that the public also voted that Government back into power in 2005.

Which was the point made in the first place, but wasn't it quite accurately stated once that, 'a week is a long time in politics'? If so then what does it say about something that happened 4 years ago? In other words, there has been plenty of time for opinion to change.

Manners maketh man.

Very true, but good manners never hastened women's suffrage (whether that was a good thing, or not, is another argument of course! tongue.gif ).
