With some friends, went along this afternoon for a few hours.

Great weather, some lovely beer and nice people doing the bar.

What spoilt it for me was the loud, sometimes cr*p, music.

Agreed. The best band of the day was the funk band that played as we left. They were running out of beer and cider at the time.

There was some really excellent music there this year, not all of it to my taste, but all a good standard.

Could hear it halfway up Newtown Road at about 11 pm. Sounded good to me all day!

What I took exception to was the chavscum by the kotg tent, drinking their own beer with their chavdogs present and the unmistakeable stink of 'nnabis floating in the air.

Kids about and "security" standing around doing f all about it.

I noticed that too, bit of a shame, but not enough to spoil the event for me. I may write to them about it though. Hopefully this one month of no smoking campaign will get a few people to pack it in.

I noticed a 'whiff' in the air too.

Gotta say, I think it was the best events I've ever attended in Newbury. Well organised, good attendance, brilliant atmosphere, great weather, good times.

We were sat right next to the aformentioned chav family (who admittedly are notorious in Newbury) and they were as good as gold and quite friendly - other than that they were drinking Special Brew instead of ale. But, if that's what they prefer, who am I to say I can get tipsy in the public park while they can't.

Frankly, I'd rather some people chilled out with a joint than got ratted on strong lager and started a fight.

I think there was more than one family....

As for the drugs, they are illegal, anti social and don't necessarily chill people out either.

It was a good event BUT I think they only need one source of music. For me it was ruined by my ears having to suffer with two lots of music being played at once and I think unless you were right next to either source you had to put up with this. For me they should drop the KOTG tent and if they want a bit of dance music played they give them a slot on the main stage.

I think it is getting too successful. The having a separate tent for cider meant that my group of friends had to perpetually go in different directions for drinks, and being in halves, meant that one was queuing more often. The music is a little antagonising in that until the early evening, the music was at best mediocre, at worst, annoying.

Comped to last year, I thought the atmosphere was better, the music slightly better (a bit too loud in the afternoon), the cider and beer was good, but it was a bit too busy for me. At £2.50 pp, it was good value, although I am not convinced it 'needs' to be a rock festival.

Me neither - is the event about beer or music?

Perhaps the loud music attracts some, but I am sure it puts others off. We could not get away from it and hold a "pleasant" conversation. We probably would have stayed longer if the music had been at a more reasonable level.

Could there be softer music until, say 6pm, and then turn the volume up?

Tedward, me and the missus had a really good time this year. I really enjoyed the Ska band on at around 21:30. Every event like this will have critics and we all like to have our say. I would like to say that all the volunteers worked their arms off pouring drinks all day and night, with smiles on their faces. They were excellent so well done all of you for hosting such an amazing event.

I've been going for a few years and thought this was probably the best.

As for the music, it's a big field, you don't have to stand by the stage.

Er, we did not stand by the stage. We tried to get as far away as possible!
