Latest news reports suggest that in the Manchester area the local councils are going to be running the health services. Be careful what you wish for!

Under the Health & Social Care Act local councils are responsible for Wellbeing Boards and are working with CCG's to arrange more joined up Social Care.
Just think if they haven't got the standard of staff that can ensure legal parking signage is correct........? rolleyes.gif

What a frightening thought. Surely no one at WBC would even imagine for one moment that they have the wit or the competence even to run a first aid post, let alone this. They can't even manage public lavatories.

So you WBC Staff are only deliberately making these gaffs to please us forumisters?
Well bless....I will have to look at WBC in a different light then won't I.
I will inform everyone that there is no need to worry about WBC being not up to the job as everyone thought and they are thoroughly on the ball and only have thoughts for Council Tax Payers. rolleyes.gif

y'know I'd love to see the spotlight shone on you and see how effective you are at your workplace. I bet the people you clean up after wish you'd clean the cups properly rather than just swish them round with cold water... and didn't make so much noise dragging the vacuum cleaner round the office...

You forgot to mention one big difference between myself and you. If I don't clean the cups properly and carry out the cleaning properly then I am out of a job! rolleyes.gif

Whereas your good selves at WBC, and include our beloved Town Council, can make as many gaffs and cost us taxpayers plenty more than it should and pay no consequences! rolleyes.gif

Of course don't forget I am only paid a menial wage for my menial job unlike WBC staff and of course I don't receive any perks whatsoever for working very long hours carrying out all this cleaning etc?

Oh to be in a safe and secure job with no responsibility whatsoever and no comebacks just like you, consider me green with envy of course? rolleyes.gif

It's been a few years but I can't remember there being a whole raft of perks when I worked for the council... Care to enlighten me?

If I remember rightly it would have been quite a good job though if it wasn't for having to deal with members of the public. wink.gif

My wife on the other hand has worked for Vodafone and several other of the big players in british business. Now they know how to do 'perks'. Yes indeedy...

What you don't call no chance of losing your job not a perk, free parking, a nice new headquarters, a very good pension scheme, not being held responsible for any mistakes having meetings discussing having meetings? rolleyes.gif

I think you have hit part of the problem on the head that appears endemic with our local Authorities, they would be OK if it wasn't for having to "deal with the public"?
They would like nothing better than not have to deal with the plebs and certainly not being open and transparent with them and supposedly being servants to them. If only they did not have to be reliant on the plebs for the money they provide and of course the embarrassing ritual of having to knock on pleb doors and scrape and bow for a vote. It would be a Council heaven I should think eh? rolleyes.gif
