Problem is no-one is willing to pay for it. Budgets are cut & cut again as Politicians know that the way to power is through lower taxes. Lifestyles have changed. I bet fewer than 10% of people these days sit at the dining table for a family meal.
I agree, but I feel deeply this is the route of where things started to go wobbly. I would add, that this is most important for infants, rather than senior school. School dinners back then were of relatively good quality as well. I'm thinking also that this is a contributing factor in poor diets we accept these days.
Social ills, in no particular order and some of these serve as metaphors.
TV (esp. 24hr) - I understand It's bad affects on society has been proved, albeit unscientifically.
Microwaves - Food is too easy to dismiss as unimportant.
Superstores - See above.
School dinners - The lack off often provides a poor start in life.
Secularism - It is fine to remove belief in God from the school curriculum, but it should be replaced.
Internet - Like all things, too much of a good thing can be bad.
