As for range, the floor space is a lot less than Sainsbury's or Tesco's, so they wouldn't have room for the same range.

All Sainbury's and Tesco have is more space selling the same stuff. I'm no-way impressed with the food range in Tesco.

We're digressing somewhat, eh?

I live really close to Waitrose, so go there when I don't want to get in the car. When I do go there, I note the prices of whatever I'm buying and they are on an estimated (by me) average of about a third higher than the other supermarkets. The checkout operators are normally friendly enough but very young and so usually quite shy. The floor staff are the rude ones which pesumably is why they're not on the tills. The range is limited, I often walk there and come back empty handed and have to go elsewhere, or I can only get a part basket and that's no good either. I concede they don't have the floor space to improve their range but that's neither here or there. I do think it's generally quieter in there, with no screaming kids or chavs, I just don't think it's better to the degree that I want for the extra money. I went to Tesco tonight though and it was horrendous wink.gif

I know this is about Tesco's trolley's but I was in Sainsbury's today and saw a car hit one of the trolley's after the wind blew it towards the car.

At Tesco last week I saw a worker come out with her shopping in the trolley, walk down the aisle by parent parking, get her shopping out, leave the trolley and walk over to her car ohmy.gif So its not just shoppers that do it - its the staff too!

They probably do it to make sure the trolley staff are kept employed. wink.gif

Since this thread has already wandered so far into the territory of a general supermarket discussion thread...

I realised today another advantage that Waitrose has over Sainsbury's - clean cutlery in the restaurant.

I can explain this, when cutlery goes through an industrial dishwasher, it is heated up to a high temperature so that bacteria is killed, it should then be left to air dry, which in hard water areas leaves spotmarks on it. This can give the impression that the cutlery is unclean. However some places like to wipe these off, normally with a cloth that get's used for wiping everything which leaves the cutlery shiny, but covered in whatever bacteria was living on the cloth and therefore not that clean.

Well, that's good to know. But when I see visible pieces of food stuck to two pieces of cutlery, I tend to think they're not quite squeaky-clean. Maybe that was a one-off - I did complain immediately. But it makes me less confident overall.

Yeah bits of food are probably a bad sign!

It happens in a Michelin 2* restaurant too. Free bottle of wine out of it so a winner in my book
