Are you worried about Swine Flu coming to Newbury? Genuine cause for concern or media hype?

Posted by: TallDarkAndHandsome May 18 2009, 11:11 AM

38000 worldwide people died of Aids last week.
Fewer than 10 people worldwide died of Swine flu last week.

Am I worried about Swine flu? I'm more worried about the Swine in the House of Corruption, I mean Commons.

The American Government is only testing us to see if every country in the world can control a pandemic. That's why this Swine Flu is man made.
You don't have to believe me.

The real test will be what happens this winter

The last pandemic (1969) in this country killed about 30,000 and 1m worldwide and they believed the general population had an immunity after the one from 57 then!!

Prior to that 1918....40 million, so perhaps we should be at the least be alert and follow basic hygiene practices to avoid any chance of spreading the virus. Also, I fail to see the correlation with AIDS, which is 99% of the time, caught via self inflicted practices. Even though there has been for many years a sustained and prevalent campaign of information and best practice, that continues to be ignored and not followed.

Read and watch with an open mind, you dont have to believe but this man knows what he is talking about.
I'm not going to even care about this flu untill it reaches Newbury or Hungerford. No one has died with this yet in England... unless i've missed this weeks News.

I have every right to believe what i want to believe, so im just saying, read/watch this with an open mind. That's where my information comes from... Alex Jones.

Good Boy Racer you can believe what you want but don't get too paranoid about the USA as they have proven they are not very good at organising anything just look at Iraq! If they are taking credit for the Swine flu outbreak they are probably lying! tongue.gif

The American government doesn't have to "test" anyone. This is a natural occurrence. Flu viruses mutate everyday. This would have happened sooner or later. Thankfully it is a mild version of the virus and humans seem to be resistant to it. Normal flu is more dangerous at this point in time. It has given the governments of the world a chance to try out their contingency plans for if there is a more severe outbreak. Bird Flu is still out there but at the moment can not survive long enough in the human nose to be a real threat on a wide scale. That doesn't mean it won't mutate further and become more dangerous. Simple hygiene is the best defence. The problem is humans have over done the whole cleaning and sterilising thing and have not done their kids any favours by preventing them from being exposed to normal things like dirt and plant pollens. It will be the younger generations who will be at risk because they haven't spent enough time outside building their immune systems to fight off viruses. I was a nanny in a previous life and the parents of the child I looked after kept a bottle of antibacterial spray in every room and as soon as there was any sort of dirt around they would rush to clean it up sterilising everything. Their child now has a list of allergies a mile long including asthma. She wasn’t allowed to play outside either.

Posted by: Good Boy Racer May 26 2009, 02:48 PM

I think you may be a bit behind, WHO declared a flu pandemic last Thursday

Posted by: Andy1 Jun 16 2009, 03:49 PM

Having just come back from the States, there was no where near the coverage in the Media on this virus as there is here. In fact I don't believe I even heard it mentioned once.
