I can't believe the arrogance and downright disregard for customer care from Camp Hopson. Under the circumstances the only correct course of action would be to have waved the difference. If ever I have read something that would put me off using a business, this story would.

I think a 10% deposit or something would be fair. Generally if you are going to genuinely go ahead with something a deposit is a small price to pay.
I feel that it may have been inappropriate in this case to come back asking for more money when a £400 deposit has already been paid. Camp Hopson should have said normally a deposit of £xxxx would be needed but in this situation we will not ask for a larger deposit in this instance.

Having dealt with a few funerals, it seems common practice to request the disbursments are paid in advance. But, having asked for a smaller deposit Camp Hobson should have honoured the agreement.

Well me old mum, being an old gel. Paid in advance. People did in those days.

I am sorry that the troubles arose. I am being worked into such things.By Kids.
It needs a pint or 2 to work out what I have to do. Wills.Deeds etc but should HMRC get it.

The cost of an unexpected funeral was bit of a shock.
3 cheers for Mrs NM

Camps should have just took it on the chin and said nothing ... it is their **** up for heavens sake. It is hardly treating their customers with dignity at what is usually one of the worst moments of their life.

I agree, as it was the Funeral Directors mistake they should have accepted the £400 deposit and got on with the contract as quoted. I think the knock on affect of the bad publicity will cost the company more in the long run?

Funny - I thought you were of the opinion the Newbury Elite were immune to the vagaries of mortal life.

You surely don't need me to remind you of the saying....You can fool all of the people some of the time etc. rolleyes.gif
Hopefully it will reach our own local authorities at some time in the near future.

Yes strange considering your rabid defense of of our local authorities??? Even after all the evidence of wrong doing and shameful way they treat those who they are elected to serve! Reminds me of the defense of saying I was only obeying orders! rolleyes.gif

Maybe if it was wrong doing and shameful way they treat those who they are elected to serve I'd be inclined to think differently.

As far as I'm concerned there hasn't been any of what you mention, just the usual kind of thing one would expect from any large organisation.

You are obviously like Nelson using his blind eye to use the telescope and saying I see no ships!
As far as you are concerned they can do no wrong so no surprise in your answer!
I can see that you have very little expectations in your life if this is the standard you would expect from any large organisation.

Just to remind you they are not large organisations. One is a local town council, and the other similar but slightly larger. Some Councillors serve on both, may go some way to explain why they suffer very similar problems, and of course with humans involved you will always get mistakes but to not admit to them and then try to blame the taxpayers who point the mistakes out is simply not acceptable whatever the size of the organisation.
You must have a lonely hobby trying to defend the indefensible? rolleyes.gif
