Hello everyone. I am one of the Traffic Wardens or Civil Enforcement officers in the town, and will be willing to answer any sensible parking related questions. My presence here is not officially sanctioned, so I may on occasion be limited in my replies! I was on the other forum, but its so quiet on there these days that i thought I'd rear my ugly head on this one!

I'm not always online either so it may take a while to reply! Happy to accept PMs too.

Be gentle though please, I get enough abuse whist patrolling! smile.gif

Or better still, why is it allowed to occur in so many places?

Welcome along.

Why do you fine people for being over by a couple of minutes?
Are you, by any chance, a female who sometimes patrols by the council offices? I had parked in Sainsburys, walking back from Rios with my Lunch, I saw the scornful look of an angry parking attendant.

I'd love to be out in the sunshine at my job. Then again, when it rains I'm quite thankful I'm not.

I understand it's an unpopular job. I think some of the stick Parking Attendants receive is unfair, sometimes it's justified but not necessarily right.

Nice to hear a human comment.
Be gentle though please, I get enough abuse whist patrolling!

Sometimes it can be difficult with reading the resident bay rules.
But I have been stupid enough to bung a couple of pound coins in the double headed eagle.Machine.
FOR the bay behind.
All of my parking tickets were fair. So have a nice time, I think there is a sense of humour here,

Do you get depressed doing your job or do you enjoy fining those that park illegally?

Must say have never found Wardens mean in spirit or action. Was with my Mum, who had overstayed a little in the old pay and display park - we arrived bacxk just as the Warden turned up. His comments - I'll give you two minutes madam! Rather more acceptable than the ticket we got in Camden, unloading a disabled relative. We were told curtly to write in if we wanted to appeal - which we did and won!

Welcome GreenMeanie don't take anything on here personally there has to be some way of letting off steam when you get the bill for parking somewhere where you shouldn't. rolleyes.gif

Daughter got a ticket by a flying moped rider. The bay was suspended for road works, for 24 hours.
It was 23.45. The works had been done. And the tarmac repaired. Sense did prevail then, as in previous posts.

Absolutley!

Just like me when I got talking to someone at the station and jumped on a train without phoning for a parking ticket. Arriving back to find a plastic envelope containing an invitation to pay a much larger sum. The train company had me bang to rights - the b****rds!

Note that he/she hasn't replied yet.
Is this a wind up?
Perhaps, if they do decide to reply, they could tell me why I was fined for parking in a "free" car park one Christmas?

Based on that information, what sort of response, let alone answer, do you seek?

Couldn't be bothered to appeal the ticket then?

Exactly why I should be ticketed for parking in a car park which was allegedly free?
It was any easy take on behalf of the Green Meanies because those who parked there were supposed to still take a ticket from the machine so technically I was in the wrong.
But, counting the number of people who had made the same mistake, the instructions to do so were clearly not obvious enough and were on a different board to that in huge letters saying "Free Christmas Parking".
The Meanie obviously saw this as an easy take so ticketed at least 18 cars in the car park.
I presume they are on some sort of target / commission so this was an easy win without having to walk too far.
Merry Christmas!! sad.gif

Flying Mopeds.? JeffG. Technically they don't fly but they do dash around especially after hours.

This is an aside OK ... Son failed his driving test for not using a bus lane when it was not operational.
No one uses a bus lane now because they all have different times. It is not worth the effort to check the signs.
So the cameras have been replaced for moving ones that can be used for other misdemeanours.

Why do people always assume people are posting under multiple identities, or aren't who they say they are?
Reminds me of the community of Sandleford, in Hot Fuzz. I know everyone bangs on about that movie but seriously.... and the portly bloke who's the leader reminds me of Biker1.
I'm sure a nice guy but geez..
