When you say 'request' does that mean they still will collect even if you have not got such monies? My mother who is a pensioner has some items she wants to donate to a charity.

In the story posted on Newbury Today it says: "..."a very distinctive" blue R registration VW van was seen parked in the woods nearby..."

If this was the van used to dump the sofa, I don't understand why the driver did not drive it to the tip - it makes no sense.

Alternatively, they could have listed it for free in the NWN classifieds section and made some money, or called The Furniture Project and asked them to collect it.

If this is an honest post (OP), then fair play to the student for actually wanting to do something with his/her time to expand an interest, and make a few £ for his/herself at the same time. People are moaning about this person wanting to charge money doing something useful. I don't get it. The same people would also be moaning if this person was out setting fires to bins, drinking in the graveyard during the day, stealing from little old ladies, stealing from you, adding extra graffiti to Newbury. The list goes on.

If this is a genuine thread, then fair play! Yes, some of the more tech savvy users may well know exactly how to convert VHS to DVD with one swift flick of the wrist, but there are others who don't and won't know where to look to find out.

I'd ask the OP to tell us some more about his/herself.

Went this evening with another argumentative member of this forum.

Giving the town a bad image eh?

Walking into town the other day from St Johns...weaved my way through the latest road-digging, then through the half-empty Kennet Centre and over the bridge into half-empty Northbrook Street, to be confronted by 6 chuggers, and past Millets where the police were apprehending a shoplifter, then past the spitting chavs at McDs, through the plumes of smokers outside two pubs, before getting to my appointment.

The only street-drinking I've spotted recently is from a notorious drunk who I know has a town centre ASBO, but his bright coloured trousers actually brightened up an increasingly shabby, run-out-of-steam town.

That link didn't work for me, but if your on about the Street Drinkers article I noticed that today in the NWN!
