QUOTE (Strafin @ Sep 22 2011, 11:03 PM) *
I am surprised that she can't get a house, when we were in a "rough patch" we were told by the council to get pregnant and then we would most likely get a house and quickly. Would the half way house or B&B not just be temporary while they find something for her? If I could just put my judgemental hat on for a minute (rarely take it off), this just acts as another example of people getting pregnant in unstable relationships, getting into trouble and expecting to be bailed out. It seems to happen far too often these days.

Strafin, im sure you're not so perfect yourself. Are you telling me you have never made any mistakes in your life?

I would guess that 90% of the troublemakers in town centre on the weekend are unemployed and on benefits but the other 10% are probably people who are employed. I am currently on benefits through no choice of my own because I was made redundant in my previous job. I have been trying to get a job for months but I just keep getting rejected again and again. I am a single mum so it is also hard to find jobs within school hours. I do have the occasional night out but it is not very often and I do not 'make money from other means'. I do not enjoy being on benefits - I want more than anything else to work and provide for my son. Some people also take their jobs for granted and do not do their job properly, get laid off yet walk straight in to another job no problem. I am fed up of people looking down on all people on benefits because we are not all the same - some of us want to work. Sorry, just needed to vent. smile.gif

The crime statistics are quite shocking. I am quite new to newbury and I love the town but i think it gets ruined by people like this. My friend and I decided to go for a few drinks in town last weekend but within half hour, we were harrassed and sexually asssaulted. I will never go out in newbury again in the evening because it scared me, I think I will stick to reading in the future. angry.gif

Hope they do find a cure for it, I'm sick of catching them! Personally, I don't think exercise really helps as I exercise a lot but I still catch every cold there is! sad.gif

The way that woman acted was disgusting. Hopefully, the police will do something about it. It's worrying to think that this woman is a mother. What kind of role model is she for her child? It's such a shame how there are so many chavs in Newbury as it's a really beautiful town.
