Why do we never have any in this Country?

I suggest the following referendum on a number of issues - a 65% majority would be needed to pass any such vote and associated change to the law.

1. Should we be part of the EU?
2. Should we keep funding the monarchy?
3. Should the death penalty be introduced for proven child killers, police murderers, and serial killers?
4. Should people on long term benefits who have no medical condition be made to do voluntary work to keep the right to have their benefits?
5. Should school exams be re-designed with a new focus to indentify the 'bright' pupils rather than getting everyone to pass?
6. Should a proportional representation voting system be introduced?
7. Should we build more prisons?
8. Should corporal punishment be re-introduced to shools?
9. Should their be a cap on the numbers of immigrants that are allowed into the Country?
10. Should the National ID card scheme be completely scrapped?

We have had on plebiscite and that was in 1975 to see if we should stay in the Common Market. It was held by Wilson’s labour government.

1. Should we be part of the EU?

No.

2. Should we keep funding the monarchy?

I have no problems with this because if we never had a monarchy we would have to have something else instead and that would cost probably a lot more.

3. Should the death penalty be introduced for proven child killers, police murderers, and serial killers?

I would prefer life imprisonment with hard labour... second option death penalty.

4. Should people on long term benefits who have no medical condition be made to do voluntary work to keep the right to have their benefits?

It depends on the case; some people are out of work and want to work but can’t find anything; either because they are too old or have certain problems. But on the whole yes.

5. Should school exams be re-designed with a new focus to indentify the 'bright' pupils rather than getting everyone to pass?

It depends what you mean by ‘bright’ kids. Some kids who are regarded as not bright have excelled in other areas; thus considered bright within that scope. Some people who you consider ‘bright’ are actually thick as two short blanks.

6. Should a proportional representation voting system be introduced?

No as it would cause chaos; just look at Italy.

7. Should we build more prisons?

Yes.

8. Should corporal punishment be re-introduced to shools?

Yes.

9. Should their be a cap on the numbers of immigrants that are allowed into the Country?

There has to be because of room; that should also include people coming from Europe (which at present have a right to come here).

10. Should the National ID card scheme be completely scrapped?

Yes.
