QUOTE (SirWilliam @ Jun 3 2020, 09:39 PM) On The One Show, (BBC), this evening the ubiquitous Ed Balls made an appearance, for reason unknown, but something to do with him conducting a history vox pop on the most famous English monarch. Principle contenders were Alfred the Great and Elizabeth 1st who the learned Balls cited as the first English queen; after embarrassed glances from the presenters someone mentioned Mary 1st. Both are completely wrong as we all know but this bloke was an MP for god's sake and supposedly should have a basic knowledge of our history. As a footnote Mr Testes Alfred only ruled Southern England with the North and Eastern England being under Danelaw. And don't forget Magna Carta - did she die in vain |

QUOTE (James_Trinder @ May 28 2020, 06:30 PM) Answers to your questions:
1. We don't need to be located in Weston but it provides affordable office accommodation of the right size. 2. It would be possible for us to relocate. A predecessor company was based in Newbury town centre. 3. Some staff are unable to work from home because they work with paper questionnaires. All other staff could work from home without any issues. However, these paper questionnaires may become obsolete in the future and then everybody could work from home at all times. QUOTE (je suis Charlie @ May 28 2020, 08:35 PM) But, if those that could work from home did so then the office could be smaller, cost savings. Move to hasten the end of the paper, then you could close the office entirely. More efficient, less stress, less pollution, what's not to like? And in addition town centre office space is likely to become much cheaper! |

QUOTE (newres @ May 18 2020, 12:24 PM) Does anyone actually believe there will be a vaccine by September? Everyone with any credibility has said minimum 12-18 months and suddenly Boris Johnson says 6 months? It’s more lies. I’d bet my house on it.
I’d absolutely be ecstatic to be proved wrong. So Why are you having a go at Boris, he is being given info by the scientists, this from the BBC story: "The scientists behind the vaccine have previously said they are aiming to have at least a million doses of a coronavirus vaccine by September this year. But the UK government has repeatedly said there are no guarantees - and a vaccine could still be some way off." It seems you and other Labour supporters continually want to make everything Boris' fault in their normal childish manner. |

QUOTE (Turin Machine @ Nov 10 2019, 11:23 AM) Milk should be at least thirty pence a litre more than it is now, and all of the increase should go to the producers. Whilst not arguing with you that milk should be more expensive what is your reasoning for it being 30p or more? And when you say the producrs do you mean the farmers or do you include the dairies as well? I know the farmers often say that milk costs more to produce than they get paid, presumably the difference is absorbed as part of their subsidies. Maybe post brexit we should focus on paying the correct price for our food and paying allowance to the farmers for protecting the environment. |

QUOTE (SirWilliam @ Sep 5 2019, 09:26 AM) Every sympathy to your parent's plight but the milkman/postman/uncle tom cobley man is not a social services employee and it would be grossly irresponsible of him to place not only himself but his commodities at risk. Perhaps you could pop into the shop and buy them a pint of milk? Being 70miles away makes that a bit difficult. It would not put himself at great risk to walk down a quiet road. We ween't asking for a social services employee just getting him to fulfil the contract! However it seems you take the modern approach to Customer Service, i.e. don't bother if it is difficult. |

QUOTE (Villager @ Aug 12 2019, 02:17 PM) ............snip
Because of this breach, the Chief Executive, Nick Carter, was made by the Information Commissioner to sign a document which I seem to remember stated that he would improve data security. It seems that this is not happening.
........ Does that mean we can sack Nick Carter? Probably not unfortunately. But I see they are skirting around reporting their failings. WBC always seem reluctant to admit to the mistakes they make! |
