I was talking to a pal about Thatcher and how she managed to keep people happy by doing what she said, even if it was unpopular. It led to a discussion about how bad they are now, but I wondered, are they all that bad? Is it just that we have more access to information than ever before and are able to check things so much quicker?
Boris Johnson is a great example of an out and out liar, who seems to get away with it, and in some cases I believe people like him for it!
But the tory leadership race kind of exposes them all as career politicians who will do anything and say anything to the crowd at the time to get a cheer. I am all up for people changing their minds, but to do it and deny your original opinion seems to be a tactic employed by the majority of our MP's these days.
Is there a good politician left or do we just vote for the least offensive people?
