You mean it's a bit like supplying arms, funding and training to the afghans in order for them to fight the Russians then being surprised when the same weapons, funding and experience are used against us? I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

What I find so alarming is that the very people who make the decisions as to whether we should bomb the place are so out of touch with the reality of the situation. The middle east conflict(s) are driven by a religious fervor, nothing more nothing less, which has been going on since the 7th century and is not going stop because it offends the rest of the world's sensitivity.
Surely the most sensible approach is to allow russia to assist the Assad regime in obliterating the "rebels"? This is not to say we should condone their methods but the sooner it is over the sooner some form of peace will prevail.
I do not know if chlorine gas is being used or not nor care but I do care that buffoons like Trump/Johnson/Macron et al may send us back to the stone age through plain ignorance.

Or kick start our arms industry? (Assuming we still have one).

Places global warming in perspective. Still on the plus side it will save on the heating bills for the next 10 million years.

The absolute worst outcome would be for the rebels to win. It’s insanity. It would all have been over years ago if we’d kept out.

Shame my spuds aren't ready yet, could have had them up and wrapped in foil just waiting. Still never mind, the ashes will do the roses good I suppose. Puts my missing shipment of castings from Shenzhen into perspective though. Oh well it was nice while it lasted.

In one! Who made us guardians of the world anyway? The fact that even with russia's help the Assad regime are making hard work of it tells us something. The fact that no one ever mentions the rebels position in all this chaos reinforces the view that the "big" boys are quite happy for this to go on for eternity.

And to add, the people we are launching air raids to defend are the ones we reject as refugees! Talked about ****** up!

Odd that all of us appear to agree from all political shades. Makes you wonder just what the **** is going on? The Soros's of this world want cheap immigrant labour. Wars create the displacement of people. They don't want a stable middle east. And now China have really gone and done it and created a new currency linked to oil. The last 2 countries to do this? Libya and Iraq.....

The sooner we develop an energy source that has no reliance on fossil fuel the better. Pound to a penny if the west had no interest whatsoever in the middle east a calm would befall over the whole area. Least, as you state, sensible debate returns without the name calling and we speak as members of the human race not from a political stance.
As for the chinese adopting an oil based economy it can only end in tears.

So the mighty USofA has just spent $40 million on flattening a building that, by all accounts, contained very little having been cleared days earlier, when a couple of Irish navvies could have done it for 50 quid and a case of guinness. So what next? The rebels are still rebelling, the Syrian government is still "governing" , the ruskies are still posturing and JC is doing his headless chicken impression. Most importantly from a little person perspective is that the world is still whizzing round the sun and it appears spring has eventually arrived, but I guess the "peace" won't last long.

None of our politicians have come out of this with much credit at all. The Leader of the Opposition has done what it says on the tin and opposed but as for the rest. At least Tony Blair had a doctored document to show; she hasn't even got that.

Obviously tory high command has learnt from the Blair **** up and concluded that by having no proof they can not be accused of fabricating evidence so no one can argue that their strategy is flawed. Clever eh. Anyone remember brexit? rolleyes.gif

I see the usual knuckle dragging suspects are making a fuss protesting that Don's here. Didn't see much of them when the Chinese were here? Or the Saudis. Still it's ok to subjugate your people, suppress human rights and execute dissidents, just don't be a sexist. Morons.

Had over on Brexit and Trump. How many thousand recorded lies by Trump since he’s become President? Do you not think there’s something wrong with you that you don’t see a problem?
