Whatever you think of Benyon he is the best option.

Whatever you think of Benyon he is the best option if you want a Tory. If you want a party of social justice then either of Labour or the Greens are a good vote, and my personal choice is with Labour who have some great policies.

QUOTE (Turin Machine @ May 17 2017, 04:57 PM) *
I particularly enjoyed the picture of Russell Brand, arch anarchist, arch Socialist. The same Russell Brand who lives in a £3 million pound house by the Thames and who has just had a new indoor pool and sauna installed. Don't see too much equality with the masses there.

Nice false paradox. I don't know whether Russell Brand is a socialist or anarchist, and they're mutually incompatible so he won't be both, but more to the point you imply that there's an inconsistency with a socialist living in a £3million house, and there isn't. There would be an inconsistency with a socialist government creating a society which supported an elite at the expenses of the poor and didn't expect everyone to pay their fare share, which didn't create equality of opportunity, and which didn't provide a good standard of education, health care, and public services free at the point of use, but none of that prevents the talented and industrious from becoming wealthy unless they plan to do it without paying their way.

Frankly my dear, if the Tories put a stuffed panda up for the seat I would still vote blue.

The trouble is those policies (of Labour) are not backed up (supported) by the PLP or former labour voters across the country. The whole point of having "great policies" is to inspire, not revolt the public into voting for the Tories.

I just think it's hilarious that he's preached about "wealth inequality" , it's easier to be a revolutionary when you're living in a mansion.

Which policies specifically are you referring to GMR?

What policies? Ask the public, they are the ones who are saying they won't be tempted to vote for them and of course Corbyn. Of course, if you are right and Labour win then you can tell me "I told you so".

I don't like him and I'm not aware that I've ever listened to a thing he has to say, but I still don't see the problem, at least not for socialism.

So you say, but can you name a specific policy which Labour members, prospective candidates, and the public at large really don't like?

I'm not positive but I'm sure if you approached those people whose lives have been totally disrupted by the southern rail fiasco they may not be supportive of ceding more power to the unions.

Myself I'd sooner not be taxed to pay for Trident and I'd sooner see that £200Billion invested in peaceful civil science and engineering research, and I'd particularly like to see an end to the university gravy-train where half the youth of the country are obliged to run up £50k of student debt just to get a Desmond in something vocational that they could have picked up in a two-year B-Tec at their employer's expense.

Like? I could write a manifesto that people liked. I think we all could!! 26% Corp tax and a Robin Hood tax will empty the city faster than the worst possible brexit deal. Hence tax revenues will actually fall... And borrowing will 🚀...

Is this one of the policies the GMR says does not have the support of Labour's parliamentary candidates, party members, and the Labour-voting public at large?

Can you say what "power" Labour propose to hand over to trades unions?

Quite. Did you vote Brexit as well? This would indicate you are uneducated and old. 😂 Like me!!!

Err... Corbyn will be Red Lens puppet. Power to the people!!! Unions will be striking for huge pay rises and Corbyn will give in every time.

Here are the tax-rates in Europe for comparison and you'll see that a rate of 26% is pretty reasonable and still a better deal than in most of Europe.
