Having successfully identified a very good garage via this forum I'd be very grateful for suggestions of good and reliable barbers in Newbury.

Depends what you want.
If it is just a good basic haircut without any high fashion additions at a reasonable price with good servive then I always go to Henry's in Park Street

Go see Bernie at The Barber Lounge where Sweet Nostalgia used to be in the alleyway between Bartholomew Street and the market place.

Agree with Biker - Henry's does a good job. Mind, in my case, they don't have much to do!

I've tried to use the Barber Lounge twice. The first time there was a sign on the door saying that he'd gone snowboarding, the second time there was a sign on the door saying that he'd got "royal wedding fever", and he'd be back the following week.

I haven't tried there again.

It depends which end of town you live or work (dread word), I suppose. I use Looker's in Pound Street. (It's called that because owner's surname is Looker - unusual name).

My mate Tai runs the Tidy Barber in Bart street (just next to Melville Butbage) and does a good basic cut at a good price.

I always use the Cutting Bar opposite the Coopers/Craven Road. Good haircut, good price and nice hairdressers.

Quite a selection there then Sherlock (although I would advise not to try the DIY). tongue.gif
Always the same on a forum when you ask this type of question, you do not get a definitive answer just a selection of what contributors find good.
Hence the question by Mugwump in post #9. Where is the definitive answer to the best garage in Newbury?? blink.gif

Thanks for all the suggestions. Definitely won't be trying DIY. Any other suggestions for the south side of town would be welcome. I've tried the one mentioned on the north side - they must have been having an off day.

The garage I used for my last MOT was, as recommended here, Newbury Motors in Hambridge Road. Assuming it stays under the same management I'd have no hesitation in recommending them.

Cutting Bar very good & only £9.50.

The fact that one of the stylists also does dog grooming should not put you off.

Put us off? Combining human and dog grooming is a fantastic idea, particularly for dog owners whose tonsorial requirements coincide with those of their canine companions. Who says that Britain's entrepreneurial spirit is dead?

I've only just noticed this - definitely went to Newbury Motors but it is, of course, in Faraday Road.

I have no idea which is 'best', not having tried all the available options, but they were fine and I was pleased with their service and pricing and have now used them twice.
