The main thing that puzzles me, and which is never discussed or questioned: if Gaza is totally blockaded by land, sea and air, where do the rockets come from? Hamas can't have an infinite supply in stock, or materials to manufacture them, even if they had the expertise.

As it is evidently possible to smuggle large rockets through the Israeli blockade it seems evident (to me at least) that the blockade is not fulfilling it's primary purpose - to stop the rocket attacks. The rocket attacks continue and the world looking on can't help thinking that there is some justification (the blockade) for Hamas' action. The blockade makes the day to day lives of the population harder and hardens their hatred of Israel - encouraging support of Hamas. The blockade has created Hamas as an effective, democratically elected, force in Palestine.

In short the blockade is not in Israel's interests - so why on earth don't they stop it?

With no blockade world opinion will harden against Hamas and against countries supporting them and perhaps the chances of peace in the area would be a little higher.

Hmm. It's pretty clear from browsing that site that it's pretty one-sided and which side it supports.

Also, I wonder when this was written:
QUOTE
Gaza is famous for its moderate weather in the summer and winter, which encourages the people, to go to the beaches, parks and gardens. People also spend their leisure time on farms, orchards, and at touristic facilities. The most beautiful sights in Gaza are the sea, the beaches, the coast, the sky, the golden bright sand, the sun and warmth, and the soft breeze.

In a nutshell, Hamas believe that the Isrealis are in their land and they want it back.

Hamas are as Isis - both want a Caliphate.

I see that the Disasters Emergency Committee have just launched an appeal to help the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. I wonder how much those who caused it in the first place will be contributing.

Seems there is also a public session at St.Nic's tomorrow. Looks as if this is like our Irish situation but far far worse. Certainly no quick answers or realistic solutions.
