There are some suspended parking signs on the bays outside the boarded up Phoenix House in Bart Street I noticed as I walked by. The reason for the suspension according to the notice is for filming. So, as that's where they intend to park, I assume that's where they intend to film. No idea what though.

I heard a rumour that the opening scenes of the next James Bond film are going to be set in Newbury so perhaps that's the explanation. Apparently the producers are trying a complete change of pace and instead of opening with the high energy chases we've seen recently, particularly in Skyfall, they're slowing things down a little to take account of the fact that many of the Baby Boomer audience are suffering from high blood pressure and other problems and there's a real danger to their health if they get over excited.

The next film will therefore start with a canal boat chase through the centre of Newbury, with the boats approaching from the west and then negotiating Newbury lock before a shoot out near the bandstand.

Just a rumour but it sounds as though this could be great news for Newbury tourism so long as the film crews aren't evicted by the jobsworths from Parkway Shopping security.
