QUOTE (TallDarkAndHandsome @ Jul 2 2019, 09:33 PM) EU anthem. Played on German radio at news of Hitler's death. Foolish choice.
Brexit party MEPs turning back on it whilst if was played. Idiots. The Nazis did the same thing in the Reischtag. Doesnt anyone have any bl00dy common sense? I'd have sang God save the Queen to drown it out.
Lib Dem MEPs...Bollox to Brexit yellow shirts. Idiots. They looked like fools and basically stuck two fingers up to half the electorate. Not a good look.
Is it now some sort of requirement to be a first choice **** to be a politician? If seems compulsory.... I agree with all the above except the first point which I can't find any evidence of. Where did you read it was played on German radio to mark Hitler's death? Was German radio on air in much capacity at that point?

QUOTE (Strafin @ Jul 3 2019, 08:31 AM) I also don't see any evidence of that, those two links just point to stories that say Hitler liked it. So what? Doesn't mean it represents him, however this is all storm in a teacup stuff, we elect this idiots and should have expected something stupid like this. It is of little consequence in then grand scheme of things. Kinda.

QUOTE (newres @ Jul 3 2019, 10:57 AM) I reckon you got this from a fake news right wing meme. You’re very gullible. See how you’ve been made to associate the EU with Germany and conquest? Standard right wing bollix. Prat

She suffered a lot and did something good with that pain. This is what politicians should be. Not a Lammy or a Johnson. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-politics-4...-s-funeral-fund

QUOTE (Phil_D11102 @ Jul 4 2019, 11:39 AM) Colin Kapaernick sat then took a knee during the playing of the American National Anthem, even though people felt it was offensive. The Brexit party member turned away from the music. Apparently it was one of Hitlers favorites. https://www.altnewsmedia.net/news/ode-to-joy/Hmm. I’d already thought about this and why it’s different. I think there are a lot of reasons why taking a knee is different. Just some: Sportsmen aren’t paid by the US government whereas the Brexit Party Ltd are paid by the EU. The Brexit Party are deliberately causing offence whereas the sportsmen are protesting. There is an obvious disparity in the way black people are treated by the police in the US. It’s a legitimate cause. I think whether Hitler liked a piece of music or not is an irrelevance. If you follow that logic there would be a lot in culture we’d have to abandon. I can’t unlike The Smiths because of Morrissey’s recent nonsense.

So your argument is false, unless you don't agree with democracy? The fact that they are paid by the EU is a total irrelevance. Or are you suggesting the EU only pay MEPs who are pro a Federal Europe?

The way to protest was to not attend. Sinn Fein don’t recognise the UK Parliament and won’t attend and don’t take the money . Much less hypocritical than the Brexit Companu.

They do their constituency work for which they claim their expenses. I’d have no objection to Brexit MEPs doing the same. All they seem to do is moan about journey times to Strasbourg and getting an iPad for doing their work. Idiots.

I thought that the main protest against the EU was the cost so if we are making assumptions, I would assume that the people who voted for them, just want them to stay at home at not take a salary.
