Yes. And yet another illustration demonstrating the folly of stopping the old Police beat system.

Not entirely sure a "bobby on the beat" would make too much difference as they can't be everywhere at once, but two issues spring to mind. Firstly with CCTV everywhere and the increasing use of drone technology surely "policing" a small town like Newbury can't be that difficult? Secondly why does no one witness these mindless acts? We operate a twenty four hour society yet the great unwashed are conspicuous by their absence when these things occur.
Still the good old tax payer will put things right as usual. angry.gif

The vandalism took a reasonable time to do although a constant police presence isn't economic or indeed possible that it occurs at all is a deterrent. There was rather less vandalism when the Police weren't so hidden or remote. I'd wholly agree about drone technology and would go a stage further. Seems to me that these things could wholly replace full sized manned helecopters; creating a much more agile, responsive and economic service. I doubt though that the bots in blue would agree - larking about in choppers is much more fun than sitting at a desk concentrating on a screen.

It's high comedy isn't it! Perhaps we'll see a return of the Carry On series.
