Winter is coming. Never a better time to leave the EU. We will be able to react quickly to global economic meltdown. The EU won't.

Why? I have my house in Switzerland and a dual Swiss / UK passport if Brexit works great if not then no worries.

All this cobblers: there are far too many people with vested interests in many outcomes to see either the EU or UK go down the pan.

Weíre playing into Putinís hands though.

Wouldn't it be more cost effective to ship them across the channel on a ferry; process their credentials and return those who don't meet the criteria on the next crossing?

I would prefer you said "ongoing conflict" caused by idealists from all sides than lay the blame squarely on the West. I agree it was folly to go into Iraq and Afghanistan, but if we hadn't they would still be killing each other and blowing up the odd european shopping centre just for the h**l of it. Two thousand years of aggression will not come to an end on the say of some US president nor will the Arab world be united and live in harmony. Most of the migrants are from North Africa where, to the best of my knowledge, we are not engaged in any form, so we either have an open door policy and allow unfettered access or say sorry we are full go elsewhere.

Thatís full of holes.

The source really of the conflict is Israel and US support of Israel. Itís not a 2,000 year old conflict.

As for Arabs killing each other. So what? Let them do as they please. In fact arguably they were doing a pretty good job of keeping the lid on things until we invaded.

The reports Iíve seen suggest the boat people are Syrian, Afghanis and Iranians. Not North Africans.

What about all the Eritreans? Sudanese? Algerians? Libyans? Tunisians? Go to the channel ports, look at them, they're not Arabs, not by a long chalk! But, and here's the important bit, let's not let facts faze your limp wristed liberal take on things.

As the BBC has reported. They have been secretly filming the people traffickers in action, charging between £3000 and £4000 per person.

If you recall, Australia dealt with the influx all those decades ago.

The irony being that those who seek a life in europe do not see a penny of their homeland's natural assets. If it was shared around a little more evenly then this problem would not exist.

Yes, yes it would. because the other governments simply spend all the assets on bigger armies, more guns and gold plated Rolls Royces to run around in. Very little goes to the general population.

The issue is newres seems to THINK everyone is a refugee if they don't live in a prosperous country. I don't. Some of these Iranians are paying 20k just to cross. 5 adults at 4k a pop. They are not short of a few Bob and they are "fleeing" the 6th biggest economy in the world. France. Doesn't quite add up to a refugee in my view.

My answer totally contradicts this though. If you focussed on facts rather than what you believe youíd be less angry.

Wealthy people can be refugees by the way. Which double contradicts your point that they are after our welfare system. Think of the wealthy Jews fleeing Nazism.

So what is wrong with boarding an A350 from Tehran and landing at Heathrow? Certainly cheaper and less hassle, which poses the question, what is the truth behind the headlines? Note to self, must buy copy of Grauniad next time out. rolleyes.gif

Quite. I don't buy the while migrant crisis thing just before the brexit vote and I also don't buy all these Iranians with 20k on the hip not being mugged by the Africans that have been in France for months if not years. Contradiction in terms. Like a Brexit Libtard.

It might technically, but I have seen lots of cornflake spitting from remainers of late.

I take that back. All Brexiteers are Gammons, but not all that voted Brexit are Brexiteers. Many have changed their minds.

I would say there are as many who voted remain who now so sickened by the whole fiasco would join the leave brigade, as leavers who now believe and side with the project fear element.
The one thing that no one has pointed out is that if we do have another plebiscite we can not refuse Scotland a second say on independence. So there is more at stake than a few jollies in Strasbourg.

I donít believe Mayís deal is sufficient to cut the cancer out.

I think your choice of the word ďcancerĒ amply demonstrates why gammon is appropriate.

I think thereís a tendency to think those that post on these forums are representative.

Gammon is OK, but I see gammons on both sides of the debate. I feel for the sake of democracy we have to see it through.

I donít though. The angry brigade are definitely on the right and threatening violence if ďdemocracyĒ isnít honoured as if giving people a final say isnít democracy.

The people voted to leave the EU. TMís deal delivers exactly that.

I don't mind a final say, as long as we have another final say shortly after if I dont like the result.

So you're happy with TM's deal then? If so, fine. Problem is that the right don't like it and Labour are opportunistically seeking an election out of it. The result is it won't get through parliament. It's Rees Mogg and his cronies scuppering the referendum.

My preference is a clean break as personally I think the EU is doomed to failure. I may be wrong but no one can see the future. It's just opinion. Like yours.

Why stop there? We could have a daily vote via the red button on sattelite.🤣

Indeed, why? Just keep having "people's votes" ad infinitum, until absolutely no one gets triggered.

Premium rate phone voting is the answer. Sensible people have better things to spend their money on, which just leaves the "celeb" types and 15 year old school girls to decide our future. Worth a try say I. cool.gif

He didn't seem very angry though. Just bored. Just because someone's called the video "gammon", it doesn't make it so. Keep trying gammons. laugh.gif

So what is wrong with boarding an A350 from Tehran and landing at Heathrow? Certainly cheaper and less hassle, which poses the question, what is the truth behind the headlines? Note to self, must buy copy of Grauniad next time out. rolleyes.gif
How many families in this country could lay their hands on 20K let alone those who feel threatened in a middle eastern plutocracy? One for the historians to mull over next century.

And those Italians! And the French! So scary. No wonder they're so anxious to get away from that lot and come here.

The question is loaded and cherry picking the replies of ignorant people doesnít advance the debate, but yes; thereíre gammons everywhere.

Merry Xmas to you as well Je Suis! Good to know you are still about.

Hello, and merry xmas, to the "few". Shame this little forum ran out of steam, but "That's life", as they say. Ironically, as there is so much material to "rant" over today, the scope for such an outlet to "vent one's spleen" is sadly missed.
Anyway I hope to pull a "cracker" or two during the festive bash...and hope her husband doesn't find out. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif
