If you already have an iPad and want to get a smart phone is there some sense in getting an iPhone? I guess the question is, how do the two devices synchronize and is that a useful thing.

It is too broad a question; it depends on what you want to do with them.

You assume I know! What are the kinds of things that can be done?

What would be nice is if photos taken on the iPhone were magically available on the iPad - does that happen?

Use something like Dropbox, any pic when taken on either device will synchronize via t'interweb to all devices with the app installed.

I have an iMac, MacBook, iPhone and iPad. All I had to do was use my Apple ID on each device and they all sorted the rest out for me. Calendars, contacts, music and photographs all just appear on each device without my having to do anything.

Thanks Pete, I rather thought it all just worked like that.

Any views on the iPhone 5s? Affordable-ish at £375, or is it a bit old hat now?

Although I am an iPad and iPhone user, I'm not a big fan; I don't like iTunes, but the after sales service options seem better than the rest. Android devices seem to have more options and have better Chromecast support.

Having had a google it looks like it's a way of wirelessly making your TV a remote monitor for your mobile device.

I don't have a TV so that's probably why I haven't heard of it.

I think the gist is: if you want reliability then iPhone is the way to go, but Android devices tend to be more versatile.

If I was starting from scratch and it was my money, I'd go for an Android platform, but if you have an Apple device, then it might make sense to stick with that as I don't think Android devices have a true 'must have' feature that is not available in some form in an iPhone.

I've got an iPhone and I've got an iPad, if that is any help?
