Put into context, 10 years ago there were 250 million cars on the road, so 6.8 million is a small percentage of the whole.

Nah, can't argue with science, fact innit.

Clever move by Beardie; the airline industry has been trying to think up a way to reduce all the waste paper left when the punters leave the plane...getting them to think it's being done because they want 'the ban' is genius. Don't think he gives a toss who is PM; business is business.

It would be nice if he would concentrate on getting his trains to run on time rather than waste effort trying to pander to a few snowflakes though.

Quite illuminating that the left are more than happy to ingratiate themselves with some of the biggest despots that the world has thrown up but go into histrionics over the rhetoric of a democratically elected leader. Taken to its logical conclusion perhaps we should ban visits to the UK by any individual who voted for Trump.

It would keep the snowflakes happy rolleyes.gif

Let's face it, the rail service is in a semi derelict state and has been for as long as I can remember. As someone who used to commute regularly I have lost track of the number of times I have ended up sitting on my briefcase, on the floor, simply because there was no where else to sit. Plus the number of times when the train broke down, rails broke, signals broke or any number of other delays. There seems to be a collective folk memory, much like people telling you " in my day, we had proper summers" of little Choo choos puffing contentedly along pristine tracks all three quarters full of smiling commuters. I don't think it's ever been like that. And with a rising population, greater centralisation of jobs into the major towns and cities it's only going to get worse.

Allegedly . Apparently the first one did not gain popularity for a few hundred years, but the latest offering is offering a little more than a fish supper and absolution as a vote incentive . Such tasty morsels as a complimentary 3 year booze up at the university of choice along with a guaranteed income for life .
With little chance of being nailed to a piece of wood this time .

Unfortunately, because he certainly won't be nailed to his promises. More flip flops than a Spanish bazaar.

Doubt if you'll be alone; will amuse the rest of us too!! The only niggling worry I've got is that grasping lawyers are ever ready to pounce and some recent rulings are disconcerting. Nonetheless Jarndyce v Jarndyce still has the same end effect and is longer lasting.

I've got a really good executor on my side, head screwed on. Let the ******** fight for it.

It's old news, the 1907 Lloyd George Budget again! Don't worry, new wealth comes and goes in most Western economies, you must have heard the expression 'clogs to clogs in three generations'.

Well, my relatives are going to be slightly 'pissed' as they say. All ours, properties, cash, bonds, in fact everything, the whole shebang is going to animal charities. It would be worth sticking around just to see the looks on their faces! laugh.gif

But I'm sure you will agree, surely, that that term is used by members of this forum almost daily in response to anyone who dares to lean to the right. So it's understandable if the 'goose / gander" tactic is used?
In my turn I must say I disagree with this assumption that over sixties are irrelevant, I find it insulting and silly, like the young man who tried to tell me that my generation simply don't understand technology. To which I replied "which generation do you think gave it to you?"

Just sitting here at Turin Towers watching my zero hours slaves manicuring my rolling acres with nail scissors and it occurred to me, I haven't seen any police patrols out lately stopping drivers to test them, have you? And why? When drink driving has become so anti social (along with not wearing seat belts) why has the same not applied to using mobiles? And come to that speeding? Just seems odd that we can reduce our risk level by applying common sense in some things but not others. Odd that.
What driving restrictions would you lot most like to see enforced, given that the boys in blue can't do everything? Answers on a postcard please. Political rants will go on the fire unopened!
