Unsure if the camera work was off but did not see the significance of watching people move fencing around and kept switching to men in top hats when I wanted to watch the action bits. Thought the chimney stacks was good and the coming together of the rings fantastic. James Bond and the Queen, Becks and the torch, Mr Bean and the lighting of the couldron was brilliant. What has happened to Macca? He was out of time and out of tune. I felt embarassed watching. Not sure what the rest of the world would make of it, imagine they would have problems understanding it.

I think Paul McCartney was pre-recorded and they cocked-up the sync. I thought the event, while very entertaining, was poorly filmed and the commentators kept speaking when something was being said in the stadium.

I think if it had been pre-recorded Macca would have sounded better. At his age he just does not have a powerful enough voice for a live gig in such a vast arena. It looked to me as if they took the sound from one sound mixing desk and the vision from a from another control room.
In real time it is almost impossible to sync them.

But the sound came before the video! I think they 'switched the tape off' and kept with the live version. By contrast, the other bands were fine ... if you like that sort of thing.

I think it's called scene-shifting. How else are they going to change the set for the next part? I thought they had diversions going on during those bits anyway.

The whole thing was brilliantly staged, and I thought the cauldron was mind-blowing. Beijing eat your heart out. I never thought I would stick with it for four hours but I did apart from some of the dancing and part of the team parades when I had other stuff to get on with.

Viewing figures in UK 27m peak, apparently.

Yes it is called scene shifting, I do know that. I said the camera work was off because they kept showing the scene shifting while other, more interesting things, were going on in the background.

Must admit I found the presentation lived up to the hype though not sure what other countries made of it. Bit concerned that the livestock in the arena may have given the impression of a fast food outlet to certain factions especially as they seemed to disappear rather quickly ,.... the geese not the hungry hordes....... tongue.gif

"Yes it is called scene shifting"
I thought Her Majesty did pretty well without "shape changing".

(A nod to an odd UK institution, where would we be without bonkers folk
such as David Ike... Myself excluded of course)

The corgis were fun. That whole bit made the ceremony for me.
And Mr Bean had me in stitches.Especially the last trip on the beach.

I was quite surprised at the whole event. Pretty good
Sadly I never managed more than K in the marches.
But the fireworks certainly woke me up a few hours later.

I think my daughter is at dressage today. Fiancee will get a regular nudge
should a snore become louder then normal!

Hmmmm it won't let me delete

Still if it is polite... say it twice. Sorry about that.
And Specsavers have just relieved me of £300.00 this morning.

Thanks JeffG. I got there in the end.
I think some would prefer I deleted before I posted.

On an old topic. The cat problem went away.
It seems with the summer she gets up early and sits by the catflap
waiting. A wild scrap and she ended up with a scratched nose.
The other mog has not ventured since.
Don't mess with Persians. After all I was born there.

Thanks Andy Capp. I did manage in the end.
It is actually quite hard work thinking/dreaming up rubbish.
Sometimes I struggle....I try to keep to a point... most times I delete and go shopping.

Still It was a good opening show. I enjoyed it.

Hello Andy. I am a bit crocked up at the moment and should actually be there, and would have loved to have been. Watched it at home like most with a couple of friends. One said friend is Peter Kiely a sound recordist that has his own studios in London (google him) He has worked with them all from Madge to the Pope, I kid you not. I do not understand half of what he tells me but just nod knowingly now and again. He was going into it chapter and verse because that's what his bag. I just shut my eyes and the problem of out of sync went away rolleyes.gif

I am sorry that you are a bit crocked NORTHENDER. But the flame passed down Upper st NI
The end of my road. Miss E caught a snap on Farringdon Road where she works.
I was planning to ignore it...Pavement families with children woke me up an hour before 07.30 .
They were just so excited.
I usually wake with the overnight DHL into City airport. and then doze.No chance. That morning.

Agreed. I thought the "forging" of the rings was spectacular, but can see why some have commented that that the whole event looked like it was representing some sort of socialist utopia. rolleyes.gif

Mind you, as Boris said today, I suppose we have to be careful not to rake up "Empire" !

I thought Doreen Lawrence and Shami Chakrabarti were strange choices to walk the Olympic flag - but perhaps I am being non-PC.

All in all, it went off well and the organisers deserve credit.
