I have a large number of used (mainly HP) toner cartridges which I am extremely loathe to throw away in land fill. (In fact I won't do it.) But I am finding it hard to find a recycling facilitator.
Does anyone on here know of a charity who may be able to benefit from these by making some money through recycling?
I would like to see them put to good use.
Thanks.

Yes... their is a place in Thatcham were Reeds was/ is. Down by the old paper mill. I worked for them temporary.... but I can't remember the name. It has been years since i worked there. You do down the road towards the paper mill and before you get to the railway crossing you turn left.

If that doesn't help let me know and I'll try to find out more information.

From the cartridges the money goes to charity.

Most of the charity shops, Age Concern, Cancer Research etc., will take them. Age Concern sent me envelopes so I could post them or, if you have more than a dozen they will collect.

There is a web site Recycle 4 Charity.co.uk which will tell you what and where to send ink cartridges etc. for recyling.

Not any help to you but by way of comment, Lexmark send out reply-paid envelopes for the return of used printer ink cartridges. I am wondering if it's an EU requirement, as I can't imagine a company being that altruistic (unless they feel guilty about the amount of profit they make on the ink).

Tesco do envelopes for returning cartridges as well, and they will give you 100 Clubcard points a time (for certain ones, and upto a maximum of thirty a year), or give something to charity.

Thanks for the suggestions all.

I will give them a try.
I don't want anything for them - just that they are re-used and somebody benefits.

Cheers.

I'm pretty sure toner cartridges to the right place are worth money
As in a toner refill the cartridge itself makes up the bulk of the cost.

Failing that. You could always refil yourself. And sell on ebay as user-refurbished somewhere between refil cost and rrp. If you have enough of them the time investment in learning to dismantle and and refil cleanly may pay off.
