Phew! We are being protected from hoards of dossers hot footing to Newbury for their free bowl of soup and grubby blanket. At least at this rate we'll still have a few bob left to dosh out to local charities.

Sorry all our inns are full and don't try round the back madam, we've padlocked the door.

Probably the thread Gazzadp should have started if he wanted to comment about Ian Howgate, instead of resurrecting an old, irrelevant thread.

Those on here of a certain age will be able to remember one of the more famous excuses for the late running / cancellations of trains.....namely : "the wrong type of snow"

Well, Roger Croft and the others at W.B.C. have actually updated that to: "the wrong type of homeless".

Well done all.

I am hoping to have a full range of small huts. with electricity supply, available in Victoria Park in a couple of weeks.

Better padlock the back gate too, we don't want anyone from another town cluttering up the stables claiming they have no where to go.

http://www.newburytoday.co.uk/2013/winter-...strict-homeless

This seems to imply the full council approved the original policy, which just a few weeks later was wholly altered without reference back to the full Council!

If that is correct, it is quite dreadful. If the Council has degenerated into merely an advisory body, then there really is no point having it at all. Not only are the homeless treated with contempt, so are the Councillors.

Yes, the Portfolio Councillor was told but he should be making the policy not just being told what it is!!!
