I wonder what the 2011 figure is? 35,000?

Not even you can know that, and it would require a very strange change in the demographics for the profile to change to that extent.....

I sourced my numbers. Where did you get your 35000 figure?

PS. As CCTV is back on the agenda, just a quick update regarding the review. The officer in charge of the project move will effectively be reviewing himslef!!! You really couldn't make it up!!! Andy Day is the officer in charge of the review, the excuse being that he is an honest chap and is more than capable of reviewing this matter (according to Cllr Brian Bedwell, CON).

Surely if you were serious about a review, you would appoint an independent officer?

If that is fact it is a very odd methodology. From WBCs perspective, if they want to put this properly to bed, they should indeed go independent. Maybe if there was an agreement that costs be borne by whichever side was found to have made an error - in plan or accusation?

Odd maybe for other authorities but this is WBC.......

Have you ever known truth where politics are concerned? Us rebels should ask for assistance for a no fly zone from the United Nations in overthrowing this despotic regime. wink.gif

The CCTV review was surprisingly honest to a point, and is quite an interesting read. Some of the damning evidence has ofcourse been left out, and on that note who was the person who compiled the report???

So it turns out the reports was put together by Andy Day and an internal auditor. No wonder there was no disciplinary action!!! Couldn't make it up...

So major **** up but nothing to do with the council! Andy Day has stated that he had no compalints from the public! Only two people were responsible for the complaints! They are accused of making mischief! Praise heaped on the council team who ran the project even though any sane person who has read the reports can see it is evident it was a major debacle to say the least! Just what do council employees have to do to get reprimanded? Council employees can lie to the public and traders and nothing is done. They are then amazed that the taxpayers treat them with utter disdain and cannot see why they think the local authorities are a total waste of space.

If there are no resignations over the CCTV debacle then there is no hope of ever having any respect for the coucil in the future. angry.gif

I doubt there would have been a different result with any other party in the chair. Politicians are never to blame for anything, and everything they do is marvellous.

For an audit to have any integrity, it would have to be independent; to be worthwhile, it would have recommendations to avoid a repeat performance.

I suppose in that case I can see why the council won't have a proper independent investigation, it would mean they would have to have a full time independent panel on site full time, to investigate everything they seem to get wrong. wink.gif

Just can't understand how they get away with such a blatant debacle? I would expect the least that would happen is a public apology for decieving the taxpayers and the business community. Complete with a lessons learned statement.

Accountability for the council is now certified dead in Newbury!

My main bone of contention with this council is the lack of accountability and I'm glad that many others are finally speaking out against it. The vast majority of people in West Berkshire are unaware of how blatant mistakes and poor decions go unpunished, and that needs to change.

How did the party punish you for your blatant errors at election-time Richard? wink.gif
