I have noticed for the passed few days now, where ever i go in Newbury... and in Thatcham, there is an awful smell looming, it's everywhere! Do we have a serious problem? Or are there more and more people buying cats for pets?

I do know that there is a sewage plant down Lower Way.

Can you smell anything at your end?

I would have thought so, it's that time of year for it.

It's one of the drawbacks living so close to the country!

Like when some people move into country villages they moan about Church Bells & Cockerel's Crowing etc. I was told recently that some Burghclere residents are even moaning about the Cricket Matches played there !! rolleyes.gif

It has definitely been the unmistakable smell of muck-spreading. Having lived in London for quite a few years I welcome the different smells and noises that mean I am close to the countryside again. A country-girl am I.

I love hearing the sound of.......church bells on a Sunday morning, foxes arguing, cows mooing, deer barking, owls hooting......... I love it and I will never want it to stop.

Ok back to reality, it was the smell of farmers spreading their 'compost' on their fields to increase the quality of their crops for the next year. rolleyes.gif

I love to hear Church bells so much that I tried to buy an album of the sound.... but I couldn't get it anywhere.

Shame isn't it, having to compalin about smells. Perhaps I'm now too old and clearly un healthy, but at one time, everywhere had a distinctive smell, and not one from a can! I used to love the smell coming from the Brewery - on the rare occasions I get a whiff now, brings back memories of Nan's Irish Stew.

You mean go to the Church and record it? The trouble is they usually do it on a Sunday morning - very early - and I am in bed.

I know; poor excuse! tongue.gif

So...... you want me to pull a few bells and record at the same time? Next you'll be suggesting I am as talented as John Lennon and requesting to get into a bag with me. Or you might even wish to do a duet with me; maybe Cinderella Rockerfella laugh.gif

Sigh! Try this: http://www.cccbr.org.uk/bellrecordings/

Re the two bricks - I think you have to catch them early. Still it wouldn't hurt to try (well, not us at least). smile.gif
