I thought it was going to be Jay Z and Mr Hudson but I was disappointed.

While the background to the song is emotive, the song itself is too long and featureless.

Whilst I agree with the sentiments. The song could have been better. Bob Dylan's version ?

My brothers and I sold medals and raised £2,500. (with no commission deducted either).
All went to Help for Heroes.
Early WW2 war medals.Even Grandfather's Camel Corps medal from 1918. They had been in cupboards for decades.
The auction house took excellent photos and Uncle Geoff had a full page to himself in the catalogue.
His name is at Runnymede. I look forward to visiting the Bomber Command memorial.
He will always be the 22 year old of his last photo. Almost 70 years ago...............Forever Young.

I thought it was going to be Bob Dylan performing in The Last Waltz with The Band. Check out the hair (facial and other) Bob with The Band

Not wishing to distract the thread as I always seem to do.
Hard to use original Bob. I have had to wipe 3 old family cines from Youtube,Sony are harsh.
Fair enough... I didn't get the police through the door at 06.00

Back to the Bassets.
Father returned home from an oilfield in Persia.Joined up and was at Compton Basset,
for a spell.Due to go to Canada for training, but was reprieved at the last minute by a demand by WSC
for morse trained people. ( He wanted 10,000 -today!). He ended up on a bleak hillside in Africa.

A "Gin Palace". 2 trucks bolted together. Listeners at one end,Bletchley breakers at the other.

It is moving that we are now able to put up clips on youtube which wasn't even a fantasy in 1942.

There is a lot I don't know. Despite hours at Kew.
His unit did warn the Americans of German plans at Kasserine.
Well they ignored it and took a kicking.

Montgomery (despite his odd temperament)
took note of another message from the old man's
outfit on a bleak hill.
They blasted through Rommel's lines at Mareth.
More or less ....end of war in N.Africa.

Those who are thought of as they pass through Wooton Basset
are just a sample of brave young men and women.
Wrong song though for todays times.(sorry).
