Fountain Pens Options

I was reading an article on the BBC news about fountain pens making a revival. I've not used one for a good 5 years, but reading the article has made me slightly nostalgic for the old days. I'll be digging out my collection when I get home and giving a few an airing.

Just wondering- does anyone here use a fountain pen? Any particular favourite brands?

Why are my posts being randomly deleted?
I put something about only really remembering fountain pens for their fragility; pupils would take another's and break it purposefully by stabbing it into the table. The ones they used were simple ones, I can't remember the name but they were bright red and cost 80p each (or 15p to the school, talk about profit).

I doubt if they are. You're probably doing what I do sometimes - preview the post then forget to add it.

I haven't used a fountain pen for years, but the OP has resurected memories from school. The bottle of Quink in your school bag and how marvellous cartridge pens seemed to be. Not so keen on inky fingers though. My first proper pen was a Parker but I have a really nice Conway that was a gift. Must get out and start using it.

I use a fountain pen occasionally. I prefer a fountain pen to a ball point pen.

Yes - use a Sheaffer my better half got in a Camp Hopson sale some years back.

I have lost the muscle memory to be able to write well. I can't think of a time where I might need to write with a pen other than the occasional signature.

I use a fountain pen all the time. Mine is a Sheaffer and I have the matching roller ball pen for use on multi-part forms. I also fill it from an ink bottle rather than use cartridges.

Sad to say I have the same problem. The only time I write is to sign a will, (Dad! Not the Cat Home!).
I liked Sheaffer pens.

But I have a really gorgeous brass pencil which I must have bought years ago. Inscribed to H. Cross. Jany 1st 1869.
It has a mother of pearl top which holds the leads, and a device that moves the pencil back into the sheath.
There are various screws that can retract or extend said pencil. It is as long as my middle finger and very slim.

I claim the prize for the worst innuendo ... I wonder who was given the pencil and what was the date a memorial to.
