I know what he said, your response suggested he'd just need a HD Ready TV, which at the moment is incorrect.

My response didn't "suggest" anything it just simply answered his question as to whether he needed an HD compatible TV and the answer is still yes. Your "No" didn't really help as it was incorrect to the question asked.

If you could have answered lucidly by stating he does need a compatible tv along with....etc etc etc hen that would have been fine, but you didn't and just put out a conflicting misdirection.

Some areas of Newbury can get Central, and 2011 is only just over a year away.

Two years, since the switch-overs take place around October time.

I wouldn't say 3 months is too long, but each to his own

Nor would I - it was 3 years wink.gif

Well actually, any sensible person wouldn't need it spelling out that the local area is what is under discussion blink.gif

That is true, but as not all forum members that are from the local area I more than just sensibly included them tongue.gif

There seems to be some techno types on here so can someone confirm that our TV signals still come from Hannington mast? Also intrigued about parts of Newbury being able to get Central as I think the local Thames Valley news is poor on ITV compared to what we got when Meridian had a local studio. Suppose matters won't improve as ITV are skint, lucky to get any 'local' news at all

Your Response was 'you are'. You are what ? From that I suggest, he thought just having a HD TV was good enough to recieve HD Freeview. So I suggest your answer was unhelpful as well. I agree my answer was lucid. I am sorry in advance for posting something that obviously caused you confussion.

We feed off the Hannington mast. Membury is there to cover the 'black hole' of the Lambourne Valley.

For the geeks out there....

I believe that some parts of Greenham can get Central as they face the Oxford transmitter.

Am I right to assume you will only be able to get freeview HD if you have a "HD ready" TV?

It's pretty basic english but let me explain.....

The question begins "Am I right to assume..." (as you can see from above) and I would have written "You are right to assume that you do need an HD compliant TV" if there had any ambiguity in the initial statement. But as there isn't and it's singular question only requiring a solitary response, then "You are" is more than ample to confirm his assumptions regarding the need to have the aforementioned TV.

Hope that helps

You could have got away with an answer of, 'Yes'. tongue.gif

If I remember correctly, Bill1 got one of those inexpensive decoders that will now not work at all.

A list of 'problem' boxes can be seen here: Problem equipment

Thank you for yet another sarcastic comment, However you're solitary response of 'you are' was incorrect. By the way I may not be as articulate as yourself but I'm pretty sure solitary means alone so 'you are' isn't a solitary response.

Sorry for also being sarcastic and therefore bing a hypocrite.

I remember way back, a 'Bill' complaining of buying a decoder that was 'doomed'. I think you, or Bill, said it was purchased from Sainsbury's.

Blimey!

If it was me I don't remember it, there was another Bill on the old forum, hence me being Bill1.

I'm impressed with your memory though.
