Hi guys

Have a look at this....

http://www.newburytoday.co.uk/News/Article...articleID=13350

QUOTE
A FARM near Newbury is gearing up for the World Cup by training the next generation of Thierry Hen-rys.

Supermarket giant Waitrose is behind an initiative to bring football home on the range by providing soccer balls and goal posts for its free-range hens to help them become as active as possible.

The supermarket chain has named the flock ‘Waitrose Free-Rangers FC’ and the playing field ‘Jo-hen-nesburg’ after the the city that will host the World Cup final in South Africa next month.

Waitrose Egg Buyer, Frances Westerman, said: “The happier the hen, the higher quality of the eggs it lays, so it also makes good commercial sense for us to keep our hens as busy as possible.

“We’re continually looking for new ways to keep our feathered friends entertained and Columbian Blacktails have very amenable temperaments so we certainly haven’t seen any ‘fowl’ play,” she added.

Waitrose said it was policy not to disclose the exact location of the farm, except to say it is between Newbury and Hungerford.

They did not indicate whether this was due to a possible sighting of ex-Tottenham winger Ruel Fox.

You fine people will be able to come up with much better puns than me, who would your poultry world football XI contain?

Robbie Fowler up front?
David Peckham in midfield?
Colin Hendry in defence?

Ye Gods, is there no limit to the obsession with football?

I have a feeling that the IQ of the poultry taking part in this nonsense is higher than that of the average football supporter.

I also can't stand football but it's nice to have a story that makes you smile !!! I know where they are kept so I will keep a look out for the balls and goal posts.

Is this serious or just a yolk and during the warm up will they be wearing shell suits? I can see Emile Hensky playing for the team along with Wayne Rooster.

I thought the second photo in the sequence (goal shot) was the funnier one. I suspect trickery! Otherwise those hens are worth a fortune.
