It is stunning the mistakes people make where I work; simple things like not putting bulk addresses in BCC, and this is from many people who should know better.

QUOTE (Villager @ Aug 13 2019, 01:52 PM) *
If you read the article in NWN, the email concerned an assisted housing bid and was sent to 30 people. A person replied to the email, probably giving details of the bid that they were making, which was then distributed to the other recipients of the email. They all then knew details of what should have been a confidential bid.

There is also the issue that all the recipients' email addresses have been distributed to each other, and are no longer private.

People have a right to maintain privacy over their data held by third parties, and this has not happened here.

The likelihood and severity of the risk to peopleís rights and freedoms, following this breach is actually very strong. How would you feel if you were one of these people whose email address had been released and you suddenly started receiving abusive emails? Even worse, email addresses are often used as login ids on certain websites. Would a recipient try to log in to somewhere as you, and be lucky enough to guess your password, or alternately lock you out?

How would you feel if the bid that you made was no longer confidential, and that any comments that you had made (probably about your personal circumstances) to assist with this bid were now open to other people?

If someone ďreplied to allĒ as you state, then thatís tantamount to volunteering the information.

QUOTE (Biker1 @ Aug 10 2019, 09:32 AM) *
Here is the REAL treason for man made climate change (if it does exist).
All your school strikes, changing diet, electric vehicles, council emergency declarations etc. will have no effect until this changes.

There are approximately 360,000 babies born per day and 15,000 births per hour worldwide. That is more than twice the number of people who die each day. Just under half of the world's total population is comprised of children 18 and under. The average life expectancy worldwide for new babies born each year is 67

You might be right, but I believe there are benefits to changing diets and sustainable energy, etc; I donít see it as a waste of time; I donít see it as a valid reason to do nothing.

It would seem this particular incident didnít reach the threshold to deserve reporting to the ICO, so I donít anticipate a huge increase in council tax to pay for this.

Biographies; never read fiction. I find myself daydreaming as I read fiction. Having said that, biogs are often are only based on fact.

But heís also a liar, was involved in an assault conspiracy, heís a racist and a misogynist. He is also misleading the voters by telling them that we can have an implementation period without a withdrawal agreement, that GATT 24 is an option and that he could force a no deal Brexit. He doesnít have a credible plan, unless it is to revoke or call a referendum or election.

Such is our democracy, even if all that is true, no one is bigger than the party and parliament; even Thatcher found that out.

I think itís good that the voters have been made aware of this. A 50 odd year old man should not be scrapping with his bit of stuff. It shows poor character. Perhaps thereís a drinking problem?

Hasnít stopped Juncker. Just as Mayís wholesome lifestyle did guarantee success and respect either.

The choices aren't no deal or labour though. We could remain and still have a Tory government, although I still don't understand why people still believe the tories are economically capable.

Or even competent! Them and Labour; a shower of Shoite!

In the coming years we can look forward to one of Hunt, Johnson or Corbyn as our PM FFS! Utter lying bullshoite farkers.

Did you see the fury on his face? Thatís why I used the term. Field is a disgrace. And note too the difference in treatment received by the large angry man who interrupted the Tory meeting the other week. Field treated her that way because he could.

Yes, he looks like someone who chooses when to be Ďcourageousí.

I would imagine that few, if any, on here are interested, but just in case there are.

A piece of rail history on Friday night as the very last HST to call at Newbury departed at 21:48 for Plymouth.

42 years of what I would classify as excellent service from a BRITISH built train!!

Is that last Friday or this Friday?

My feelings are that the HST is a superior passenger experience.

That was what the government warned would happen, but remain said it wouldn't. That's the point. If Leave had campaigned for no single market, no customs union and acceptance of a recession we wouldn't be having this debate.

Iím not arguing we should leave without a deal, Iím arguing that parliament sabotaged the negotiations by removing a bargaining tool.

The public didnít vote for ďno dealĒ. Find a single instance of a Leave campaigner that said weíd leave with no access to the single market or weíd remove frictionless trade. Find a single instance of a Leave leader saying weíd be worse off.

More people voted to leave than stay, so for parliament to remove one of the governmentís main bargaining tools was an act of sabotage from an overwhelmingly remain organisation.

The treaty was renegotiated and the second referendum was 70:30. Thatís democracy in action.

In the UK the promises have proven undeliverable. To honour the vote without going back to the people is unfemocratic and stupid. It panders to those threatening unrest.

I have recently felt that the biggest weapon we had was treacherously removed when they voted to take no deal off the table, that affectively kept us in some form of union.

Because it is a misnomer Andy.
We have peace which has been achieved so far with or without the camp.
Some may say it is because we had / have these weapons that peace, so far, remains.
We all want peace. If a camp had been set up in support of the weapons surely this could have been described as a "Peace Camp" also?
I know it is futile trying at this stage to rename a historical inaccuracy but just trying to make a point. smile.gif

P.S. PLEASE don't stoop to the level of newres and include personal silliness in your comments. Also an inaccuracy as I have given up wearing petticoats!!
Thanks. wink.gif

The name of the camp(s) is a matter of record: Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp. The Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp was a camp full of people protesting about nuclear weapons. I donít see why you are getting your petticoat in a twist? 😉

It is interesting because the Peace Camp women were not entirely appreciated by the locals, where as everyone seemed to have an American serviceman as a friend! Notwithstanding the brilliant air tattoos!

It's irrelevant unless you get the biggest causes of climate change on board. Sure.. chain yourself to the Chinese and US embassies but don't glue yourself to a train, which ironically is far kinder to the environment than cars.

Because of China et al. it seems to me to be an even bigger reason to invest in renewables.

Recently departed. Not sure of your ages, but It Ain't Half Hot Mum was a classic of my childhood. That & Citizen Smith (no surprises there) were my favourite sitcoms I think.

Difficult to beat Porridge for sitcoms.
