So the people of Greece are not happy that they are being held to ransom by the European Elite and have effectively stuck two fingers
up to them..

I cannot see any negotiation ending well.

Still - On the positive side holidays to Greece could be cheap soon.

How many Drachma to the Pound?

Personally I used to love all the foreign currencies when you went on holiday. It was all part of the joy of a holiday - to me at least.

Bring on the Grexit

The single currency was dreamt up by a ship of fools. Now the chickens have come home to roost.

Margaret Thatcher warned of the dangers of a single currency...now taxpayers have to pick up the mess left by bureaucrats and doctrinaire-pro European federalists.

We can't say we were not warned..

No doubt Thatcher will still be blamed for all that is wrong with the world today.

Politicians blame everyone else for the failings of our society yet nothing seems to change......

According to the new Greek government they still want to stay within the European Union. What they want is renegotiation over their debt. God knows what will happen if they don't get it.

If Greek get a renegotiation / write off of EU debt then that will be the green light for Spain, Portugal, Italy etc etc..

Good old GB owes loads of money... Lets write that off. In fact all personal and national debt.

I don't like this austerity s**t. blink.gif

I'm inclined to agree. Austerity is wholly the wrong word. At the end of WW2 everyone did pull together, initially at least to get the country and continent back to some semblance of order. The politicians and even the Royal family joined in. That was austerity. Today, we simply need to get the banking system in order, who actually caused the problem. What idiots gave Greece such huge loans in the first place, knowing they couldn't pay...worse in my view than the 'toxic' mortgages extended to working men and women? Have we heard any banker forgoing bonuses? No, not at all. No wonder the Greeks are up tight, I'm rather surprised that we aren't.

Greek Fire, thermopolae, archimedes screwed up, and they can't even write proper letters.
They have been causing trouble for a while. Well for quite a long time really.
Have we quietly given back some of the Elgin Marbles via Russia.

They'll find all their utilities, infrastructure and public services taken over by foreign owned companies, experience massive cuts in welfare expenditure, etc. They'll have to take on low paid grunt work jobs, zero hours contracts and the like.......sounds familiar doesn't it.
