QUOTE (Simon Kirby @ Jun 4 2017, 08:54 AM) *
Cllr Billy Drummond is claiming in a newsletter that GPC will be saving the tax-payer money by moving the parish office into the Tower of Control and paying rent to the third-party operating company. I'm wondering though whether there will be any saving here as I wasn't aware that GPC currently rented a parish office anywhere else, and it's hardly a saving if they pay rent on a room in the ToC when they already own it. What it looks like is a cynical ploy to help the ToC look solvent on paper by subsidising it on the sly.

It's probably the first time the people of Greenham have heard that justification. New accommodation for staff. Surely that begs another much bigger question, why does this prudent, small spending, parish council need ANY staff, let alone prestige office accommodation? Where do they all work today? He also doesn't seem to know what a loan is, or the meaning of 'non-political', even in the face of a fairly recent highly political election. As for the comparison with NTC, yes, the Torys are quite wrong with the continuance of the spending projects, but who started them in the first place? Step forward the LibDems, ironically the self same who are heavily into the Control Tower.

I didn't think my opinion of the LibDems could fall any lower.
