Does anybody know why, when choosing to knock a whole in Northbrook street, they selected some of the oldest and most historic shop fronts? About 3 door down are some classic 70's buildings that they could have demolised instead.
I totally agree - it is little short of criminal.
The excuse is that they wanted the new street (East Street) to open up opposite West Street - no doubt they want to make sure the cold easterly winds cn blow through unobstructed. They will then get another contract in a few years to design the roof and entrances to the Parkway shopping centre (as happened in Basingstoke and Andover).
