Love a google don't we. You can adjust your thinking to what you search for to back up your own tenuous arguments. Here you appear to be suggesting that women in this country are treated on a par with how they are treated in Afghanistan!!! Good job.

Then there's this edifying tidbit,
"Members of a Rotherham sex gang today yelled 'Allahu Akbar' in court as they were jailed for abusing a girl who fell pregnant aged 12 after being groomed with alcohol."

Nice

Do you believe there are parts of the world inhabited by humans that are biologically predisposed to mistreat women?

Yet another report alleging white Christian men used their position of authority and the cover of their complicit religion to abuse children.

Yep, and leave it to the humans. Stalin, Hitler, and today Kim, Xi etc, etc, and their camp followers might have been firm, but they knew and know where to draw the line.....Be careful what you wish for!

probably the same place the social media outcry was over football clubs & child abuse.

Even the tabloids seem to have dropped that one.

The point here is that you did here about this story, because the BBC web magazine showed it to you, and you've extraporlated from the report of one heinous crime and infered that this is typical of the treatment of women in not just Afghanistan but other (presumably foreign) countries too.

I'm not defending this crime, not at all, it goes without saying that it is utterly barbaric, and Afghanistan does indeed sound like an absolutely terrible place to live, but I'm conscious too that this story conveniently fits a popular narrative.

And yes, such barbarity does happen elsewhere: "In 1538 Thomas Barrie spent a whole day with his ears nailed to the pillory in Newbury, England, before having them cut off to release him"* - Set there no doubt by the Winchcombe immolent who the town is soon to venerate with a bronze in the high street.
