Apparently, this gentleman slept through an attack in his home that resulted in cuts to his forehead and needing two stitches to his ear! blink.gif

There was something in this weeks paper NWN about a similar incident at Thatcham where the victims Mum was traumatised by unknown burgulars who broke in whilst she was in bed and just worked over her son. Would be nice to hear what the son had to say...

It would be better still if the police caught those thugs.

Any specific rat? There are quit a variety of Rattus rattus or Rattus norvegicus (in fact I believe there are 64 species)... so please tell us what rat you smell?

All is not what it seems, or implied...two apparent targeted attacks. But this is only a theory; I have no proof and I hope the innocent are OK and will be able to cope.

Maybe the sub-species-Rattus norvegicus chavicus? The most irritating and dangerous of all common brown rats! laugh.gif

I presume you won't be the only one who has 'no proof'; I am sure the police will be grateful for that! biggrin.gif

It was with some satisfaction that I heard on local radio that a 37yr old male from Derby Road had been charged with a couple of counts of burglary and theft and was going to ask for thirteen other offences to be taken into consideration, including the theft of a plaque. (Which plaque I wondered).
As some of the results of the misdemeanours was lead and copper thefts, I also wondered where the metal had been disposed of. Good follow up and investigative story for our local paper perhaps.

This story also smells like a rat.
http://www.newburytoday.co.uk/News/Article...articleID=15096

Twelve policemen and some with masks. Taking no chances by the sound of it.

Oh, it's jones robinson by the way, not jones and robinson. I would have thought the fact that they are one of the major advertisers might have got the the correct title.

I also read this story and I found it quite worrying. It's a shame that our local paper feels the need to print only selected parts of a story which has the effect of causing concern and worry (I am sure I am not the only one who found it concerning). I have questions....

What type of masks and why masks?
Why so many police officers?
Why print this article in a scaremongering way?

Have you seen some of the sub-species of human that inhabits some of these flats in Bart Street..? I'd want a mask - in fact I'd want to be in a bio-hazard suit. blink.gif

I wonder if the person in that article is also the same person in this article:

Same name.........same road.......coincidence?

What do you mean?

I don't actually know if it is the same person but according to Newbury.net forum the person involved with the burglaries is a Carl Gillespie from Derby Road. If it is a coincidence that in the last 3 years two Carl Gillespie's have lived in Derby Road then I apologise to the family with 12 kids (maybe more now), no jobs and a nice tax payer paid for house back in 2007.

Before everyone gets too judgmental, I'd just like to add that I have come across this family and I don't think I have come across a set of kids better brought up or more polite.

Whatever your views on the various aspects of this matter, they appear to have done a good job in raising their family.

So if it is true that neither of them work as they don't have time because of all the children and the dad is also out robbing the rest of us even more (on top of all the benefits) that is alright because little Parris-Jordan, Kesla Blu, Mason, Peaches, Skye, Kalifornya and the rest all say please and thank you we should not be too judgmental?!?!? well I am sorry but I can be and if it is true it is totally outrageous!
