I bought the new Fiesta 1.0T 125PS engine (Has won engine of the year apparently). It's not a bad car at all however so far it hasn't reached the MPG that is advertised (what car does though?). I use it mostly to just drive to and from places in town so have only done about 1700 miles in 4 months and average 40mpg. It's tax free (handy), good on insurance, has the power of a 1.6 and is comfortable to drive.

I'd suggest taking several out for a test drive to see how you feel. If you do go for brand new, visit a website such as drivethedeal.com and get a quote for a new car from there. That's what I did and Gowrings matched the price (eventually - took 2 weeks) therefore saving over £3k!

Strange thing to say! do you want them to be "bothered" to go out and ruin some poor persons life.

No and you've read too much into my post, it was as simple as it sounds - They can't be bothered to do anything - whether that be rioting or simply getting a job.

My housemate got a text saying riots are kicking off in Turnpike? Not sure if it's true but sounds about right...

Friend also just drove through Newbury and said it was very quiet. Don't think anything's gonna happen to be honest... Most people in this town can't be bothered!

I was out Friday Night/Saturday morning and can confirm that it really was a night of violence... I stupidly went to Liquid (first and last time I will ever go) and from my walk from Liquid to the Snooty Fox (going round the market place way) I passed a group of at least 5 people outside Spin fighting (one with a badly bloodied face) heard about the commotion outside liquid (at the time it was noted that there was approximately 90 people involved?), walked passed a couple of boys having a heated arguement (wouldn't be surprised if it turned violent) and pushing and shoving at the snooty.

I go out in Newbury maybe once a month and this is the first time I've ever experienced a night like that.

I went home after all that!

Sorry, I haven't posted in here in a while and I couldn't see if there was already a topic dedicated to what we want to come to the new Parkway development.

I'm not sure if all that's planned is shops and restaurants, but I'd love to see a Hot Yoga studio come to Newbury. I know there would be a large amount of people who would go to it and it's something that no gym in Newbury can offer right now.

Also to be on the unhealthy side, I'd love a Mexican Restaurant as well! laugh.gif

Is there anything in particular you'd like to see in the new Parkway development?

Okay, who can agree that it's okay for schools to be closed today? I'm looking outside and the snow hasn't even settled on the road. A colleague of mine received a call at noon saying she had to pick up her kids as the school was now closing for the day due to the weather.

I remember from the age of 5 to the age of 18 (going to school in Canada) I had one snow day, that was because we received over 4 ft of snow over night. Even then my school had opened by lunch time. This country really needs to brush up on how to deal with snow... do any of you have snow/winter tires? blink.gif

I'm really looking forward to it being completed, it's a great place for the youth to have a first job and it's going to be a lot easier than travelling to Basingstoke or Reading to catch a film.

Although I don't think I'll venture there until the new year - probably be pretty busy for the first few months!

Simon,

I've done my own snooping and found my post:

Jun 30 2009, 04:04 PM Post #85

According to the original news report by Newbury Today, the cinema was to open it's doors summer 2009.

First day of Autumn is September 22nd, so if the cinema is done by then, I WILL eat my pants, I'll film it and put it on youtube!

Eh? I believe the agreement was if it were completed by Summer 2009... it's no longer summer!

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, pretty sure that's what the deal was though!

Ah crap, knew I'd make a typo... typical it's in the post title!

I meant engine... not engineer (I always automatically type engineer!)

On Friday while driving to work there were steam engine vehicles driving down the A4 towards hungerford, now today I popped out for lunch and there's two of the steam engine vehicles driving down the A4 again but towards Thatcham.

Anyone know what these are for?

I cook dinner every single night using fresh ingredients. It never takes me more than an hour (unless using the slow cooker!) to prepare and cook my food (the majority of my time is the preparation - and I'm slow!).

Every restaurant should have a system to cook their food. Prepping the food should be done prior to opening. And restaurants should have a prep chef to keep food topped up throughout the service. Anything over a 20 minute wait for your main course is unacceptable.

I was really disappointed by it. I turned up at about 4:00 and the queue to get in was out the gates, so we decided to pop to the LSB for a pint and then go back. We returned at 5:00 and were told that they weren't letting anyone else in as it was full. We still went in and chatted with a few people before moving on to the pubs in town but I thought it was ridiculous considering the amount of people that were leaving at that point!

This seems to have a huge flaw every year! Last year they ran out of everything by mid-afternoon, didn't they?

It is a shame... I actually quite liked the MGP. Although I have to admit, I found the service to be really slow. when going in for lunch the couple times I've been, my group would be the only ones in there yet we were still late back to work because service was so slow.

I agree, no sympathy! It drives me up the wall seeing all these youths getting pregnant with the full intention of getting a free house. I wouldn't dream of getting pregnant until I have a stable full time job where i'll be able to get maternity pay and have a job waiting for me when I'm ready! I also wouldn't have a child with someone who wouldn't be able to support me (or with someone I wasn't married to even!)

I think it's nice they left ornaments. I don't understand what the issue was?

Although I'm having a case of deva-vu here... Hasn't this story already been covered.... several months ago? i've definitely read about this before and thought it was disgusting back then as well!

I've just seen the Sky News report on these people. The mother, when released, will get a stylist and a personal trainer! I can't believe it! And WE'RE paying for this!

And she'll still be young enough to have more children too...

I for one think it's disgusting that the most they will serve is 12 years, then once they get released, they will be given different identities to allow them to get on with their lives. Not only did they commit this terrible crime, but they had a history of serious crimes in the past. They should have been given life without parole, since we don't have the death penalty over here. 'nuff said.

I'm a VF bus user and I agree that northbrook street should be made completely traffic free. A couple months ago when it was closed to all traffic, the busses were diverted to go to the bus station instead. I found it much quicker and easier for the bus to go this route. In a way I was hoping northbrook street would stay blocked by work for longer laugh.gif

It's an absolute joke. There's no logic behind it! Buggies aren't allowed but wheelchairs are? The council should be embarrassed

I completely agree with you, GMR. When I was growing up, I had a curfew which was given to me by my parents. If I was out with friends I had a curfew of 11pm - Only on the weekend! School nights it was 9pm. I respected this curfew so it was never a problem with me. I know that 99% of the kids out there would not respect their parents curfew so a police enforced curfew would be the only option. Unfortunately I can't see the police agreeing with this as this would just be 'extra work' for them to do and would probably say something like 'We're not babysitters'.
